A second gen, huh? So what year did Toyota actually fix the issue that allowed the frames on the Tacoma to rust prematurely? Anyone know? Has it ever been truly corrected? Was it the alloy composition? Was it the rust treatment process that was flawed? Anyone have any actual answers? Or do we still have to go off of hearsay or opinions on the premature rust problem?

    Pretty much stock right now
That's a good question. Based on the 2nd gen class action settlement from last year. it was not corrected before 2010 (if it ever was). I would like to know why the frames failed on my three prior tacomas ('97, '00, '01 - New York(long island for the first two)/PA for the the last), and yet my '03, which spent its life in Maine and Mass, still seems OK. That's the one I surely though would fail.

Yes my friends, it's true; rust never sleeps.
