Not freaking out, just . I'm not installing mine for a few weeks, so I'm just going to be watching the installs. I'd guess one method will end up being the easiest and most popular as this thing moves along.

Yes this is true, and there is an error in my procedure, it only shows the soldered method for wiring. IF the switch is spliced only, then the polarity of the wires is opposite of what is in the document. I will correct.

Yes there two ways, the solder method, and the T-tap method. They are available at the shack or auto stores, see post number 332. All you need is a crimper/plyers.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!

So what ended up happening? In my experience, if you just look at those bulbs wrong, they lose contact. I found bending the wires slightly helps.

Interesting stuff. Hopefully the new install instructions correct what happened.
Can't wait to get mine. I was hoping so much that it would be waiting at home, but nothing so far :(

I believe Jhodge83's situations is an isolated matter. I would be very surprised if it was my PCB that caused the problem. Usually with electronics it's all or nothing, meaning that it should have blown the fuse for that circuit, not just the little lights on the AC control. Not saying he does not know what he is doing, but it may be installation error. I called him personally last night and we ran through some troubleshooting and found that my PCB is fully fuctional as we hooked it directly to the truck battery to see if it was working, and it is.

As for the instruction there will one line added stating the fact that the wiring will be exactly opposite if the wires are not soldered to the switch its self. With a Diode/LED, you have to remember that it is like a one way valve, meaning that electricity can only flow in one direction. So if it was hooked up backwards there will be no flow of electricity therefore no damage can occur.

I actually shorted out my truck during testing to see what will happen if the user installs and shorts the two wires together, this in fact blows a fuse as it should. It blows the fuse labeled Tail and that in turn kills the entire dash and tail lights, not just the AC lights as Jhodge is experiencing at this time.

Between him and I we will figure out what caused the failure.
    Cheers
    B

THANK YOU rcbs204!!!!! I received the envelope today and had it installed in under 30 min. I used the soldering method. It was quick and easy. I didnt solder it to the bulb contacts but to the silver strips underneath. It is imposable to tell I was in there. Thanks for all the hard work. 30 bucks is a steal.

Sorry have not release a new version yet, If you are soldering to the switch then the procedure is good. If you are just running the wires out of the switch to the T-Taps, reverse the polarity.
    Cheers,

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
OK ladies....issue is fixed. i went in and cut where i t-tapped the a/c wires and but connected the white and green/white together and the red to the green. everything works, so i'm assuming that when the t-tap went on it cut away some of the wire so that it worked, but then didnt....i dunno. it wasnt the PCB or anything associated with the product. it was install error on the broken/thinned a/c wire. i could tug on both end of the a/c wires, thats why i'm assuming it was thinne out.

Sounds like these T-Taps may not be the way to go.

No i think they are fine as long as you get the right ones. If they are too small they will cut the wire in half.

But there is no better way than soldering , especially in a 4x4 that gets used off road!!!

Thanks. I think I'll solder. Will there be pics of exactly where to solder which color wire to the switch. That wasn't clear to me. Thanks.
