Serious sound deadening in the cab and extensive audio system.
Average 18 MPG. No matter how I drive. 2007 Double cab with the 4.0 V-6. I have driven like a little old lady going to church on Sunday and I have driven it like I stole it, no change. In South Texas there are highways with 80 MPH speed limits. I had myself and two other adults with the bed loaded with luggage and personal belongings, I cruised 80 to 90, still 18 mpg.
I drove one trip like I had an egg under my foot, still 18 mpg. Hypertech makes aftermarket chips for many other vehicles for numerous results, performance, better gas mileage etc. Well they don't make and neither does anybody else make aftermarket chips for this vehicle. I asked a good friend of mine who was a tech at a Toyota dealer if there was any tricks to make these trucks get better mileage, he said NO, it is going to get what it gets.

So the end of this story, I get an average of 18 mpg, no matter what. I get that in town and on the highway. Personally I think this stinks. If it will get 18 in the city, it should do better on the highway but it doesn't. SO there is absolutely NO incentive to drive slower on the highway. No matter how I drive, it gets the same.

As I posted, my speed was 5 mph over limit either 60 or 70 mph Not 65-75 . Cruise control on, traffic was light. I measured it the following way: Filled up at gas station made note of mileage. Speed was constant of +5 over limit, only stop was NH welcome area on highway. No idling when parked. When I exited Highway at end of 123 miles filled up at gas station less than . 5 mi off exit only red light to stop at for less than a minute, noted mileage and fuel amount. So I measured it exactly as you said would be accurate.

Return trip mileage did not match, I hit stop and go traffic at rush hour.

My normal average 17.5-17.8 mpg City Highway about 5-7 mph over limit, with my Subaru Outback, used to average 25 mpg combined, but highway speed was closer to 80 mph.

34's and an open bed I'm averaging 15.6mpg. I'm dropping wheel size and weight so I'm curious to see what kind of impact that will have.

I average about 18.5 mpgs on my current tires. Before the tires I have now I was getting 21 mpg all highway. The falkens I have are great tires, but they seem to really affect mpg.

I have a 2.5" lift in my 07 v6 TRD Sport DCLB and run 255/75/17s (about 32" tires) and I get around 16-18 mpg depending on how much highway driving I do. I do NOT drive conservatively and I often have my bed and cab loaded with tools and lumber. 4wd eats my tank though.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I've used Fuelly since day one with my truck and my lifetime average mpg so far (55k) is 16.5 mpg. I've seen 21 a couple times and can get 18+ on long trips but overall average is 16.5.

Missed a page. Live in Louisiana. with short commute to work driving 8 miles under 45mph most of the way.

It seemed to either break in at 35k miles and got better over all gas mileage or the tread wore down on the tires and was getting a little better because of that. Not sure but it seemed to get better mileage after 35k

I have a stock 2014 dclb and the worst mpg I've got was 18.88. I generally average about 20.5 to 23. I track my milage with every fill-up.
I don't drive hard at all. I try to keep it around 1500 rpms and rarely get above 2k.
I also fill up 95% of time with ethanol free gas. I rarely let the tank get below 1/2 to 5/8. Most of my driving is city and when I travel on the highway, I try to keep it around 65 or 70.
I drive like a grandpa, slow off the line, ease into the speed limit, let off the gas and coast when I need to slow down, generally travel at or below the speed limit, etc. I think it is very possible to get consistent low 20 mpgs in a v6 Tacoma. You just have to be willing to drive slower and not accelerate as hard.

I don't drive crazy but if the limit os 65 I'm setting the cruise at 70...and 70 is 75. RPMs are usually about 2100 at that point. I cover a lot of ground between work and home and I'm not taking my sweet time to get there.

If the speed limit is 60 I'm probably cruising around 55 or so. I don't drive the taco to work very often, usually I take my impreza. It's a lot easier to park downtown, but I'm usually the same way with it. I just tend to travel at or below the speed limit.
I don't really care if people want to travel fast, I move over to the right and stay outta their way.
To each their own I guess.
I filled up today, put about 7 gallons in and got about 21.9 mpg. Last fill up was 21.7. I was looking over my log and that seems to be about the average, high 21's to low 22's.

Driving to work for me; 32miles each way
    75MPH: 32 miles = 25.6 minutes
    65MPH: 32 miles = 29.5 minutes

I now drive slower; saving more fuel; reducing tire wear and such and getting better MPG_ Those 4 minutes ain't worth speeding for; sure feels good to go fast though but not justifiable, it increases my fuel cost and tire wear.

Not true here. I get 20-21 driving hwy in town at 65-70. In country with 75 mph speeds I get 18-19. Trucks are not very aerodynamic so higher speeds really drop mpgs. Above 70 seems to be where the MPGs really drop.

I recently got a 2011 DCLB. It's all stock except for a set of 10-ply Michelin LTX AT2's. Even with those heavy tires I still average about 20 mpg in my mix of mostly backroad and some highway miles. 20 mpg is good enough for me in a truck, especially after the Dakota I had been driving for the past 5 years!
