If you struggled to pass some one doing 50-55, then let me explain one very important thing, the skinny pedal on the right side is called the accelerator, if you press down on it it causes the truck to drink more fuel and accelerate faster. I have done it with mine a few times and can not tell you how fast it went, as I would be breaking the code of conduct here on this site. I will tell you this, it does have a point where the computers will not allow it to accelerate any more, and it's double what you say your truck struggle to reach.

Sorry - I should have been descriptive.

It's not the little pedal. I did learn how to do that 50 years ago. Unfortunately it's the trans again. Takes way too long to wake up. Or; Shifts to low, engine screams, and goes nowhere.

And yes - I have slammed it to the floor several times out of frustration. Response was no faster.

Did you read in pickup trucks dot com reports how bad the ridge sags with that spec payload and how unpredictable the brakes are with it ? Didnt think so. Taco doesn't need to stretch the data in sales brochures. Ridge doesn't win shinola, it's a napoleanic car.

For sure sell your truck, obviously unhappy.

Looked back at your post history, all negative about drivetrain. Just trade it and take a loss. No one is going to believe you don't have enough power to pass ppl on highway, because that makes no sense.

Might be under powered for some, but it will go more than 55 and it is certainly not unsafe.

Can't imagine toyota is going to tell you anything, they probably think you are nuts!!

Have never, not once, experienced that. When I need to stomp it and pass
it has never had an issue with it.

Agreed. If you are at 55 and hit it you are put back in the seat with close to 300 hp. It doesnt play around at those higher rpms, period. Look at the charts. These people that post otherwise are trolls that don't have one.

But you said you fixed your howling diff last week with the lift as it was a driveline angle issue. So it's not failing diffs.

Holy shit people love to twist words, don't they? This guy...there's a reason I have him on ignore.

You're correct Shaker, there's still a slight howling noise. It is less noticeable since I added the mild lift. I DO NOT deem this as a solution at all and in fact my service manager advised me to keep the lift very mild so that my case (well-documented with Toyota) would still be handled if/when the official solution is fielded.

At first I thought it went away but then a few days later I noticed it very lightly on the highway again. I updated the fact this didn't solve the issue on 4/13 here https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ft-bilstein-5100s.483874/page-3#post-14907574 as well as in the Diff howl Poll thread

"Interestingly enough I also cannot hear any diff whine now that the rear end is lifted slightly. I feel like this further supports theories of driveline angle playing a role."
Search it. It's his post. Twist words ? it's your quote !

I guess you must have misunderstood my previous post -

Unfortunately it's the trans again. Takes way too long to wake up. Or; Shifts to low, engine screams, and goes nowhere.

And yes - I have slammed it to the floor several times out of frustration. Response(the motor bogging down) was no faster.

As others have explained - another issue is the motor and trans working together. My previous post explained that when passing, the trans downshifted too low and the engine revved up to 5k near redline and would not rev higher. At the same time the trans never shifted up. So it went no faster. The trans never shifted up until I let off the "Little Pedal" .

I agree; When it downshifts correctly, it does pin you back. But; When you go to pass on the highway or in street traffic, two to three seconds of bog down is unsafe.

It's amazing how my 5 speed in my 2012 is perfect and yet the managed to screw up the 6 speed so bad. Toyota must have a former Dodge employee heading up the transmission department, Dodge knows they can't make a transmission to save their life.

Some where in TW someone had a suggestion they said helped them start to enjoy driving the truck, the started rolling into the throttle and jumping on it. I was supprised to read this as I thought that's how every one should drive every vehicle. But I have driving manual trans for the last 20 plus years, and the only time I stomp it is when I am trying to geT some noise out of the tires or make the engine scream.

I am, from what I understand it's another computer between you and your truck.
