    Now wait a minute...
If a self driving car was a reality (not that Uber disaster)
Then i would just hit the wet bar in the back seat during the drive home.
    And flip people off.

thanks for the encouragement/push to do the repair myself....

took the assembly off at the unions and replaced the backflow as it's definitely seen better days and been an eye-sore for a while...
    IMG_3396.jpg
    IMG_3399.jpg

she almost was a straight replacement, however, the new assembly was almost 2" taller which created a gap that could not be stretched without some extra effort
    IMG_3400.jpg

so i picked up a new torch, some 1" copper and had a successful first attempt at sweating copper
    IMG_3401.jpg

system is back up and running :woot:

turns out the crack was right at the ball valve...so when i had closed the system for the winter, i must never have opened that valve back up to let that water drain with i drained the main line...water left inside that ball valve led to that crack it's definitely looking like...lesson learned and more knowledge gained

It should on anything newer less than 11 years old. Now, if they can't get the system to read or hook up then they might do a dyno... but I'm pretty sure it's a fail at that point anyway. There was a policy change last year or the year before where that became standard instead of 'sometimes'.

There are three stations that can test tires over 34" on the dyno that @Blacktacoma23 could go to: Sheridan, Ken Caryl and Ft. Collins. We're just lucky because we get one of them up here in town. :D

Huh, I didn't even know you could do that yourself, I thought it had to be a licensed plumber. Probably varies with municipality. I glanced at Fort Collins and I don't see anything about who has to install it, though they do warn that not all bfps sold locally (ie, Lowe's, Home Depot) are acceptable to the utility. Also, know that most municipalities, at least here on the front range, do require inspection and certification every one to three years so make sure you look into that. Otherwise, looks good!

    Nice work mister!

Since you've demonstrated such a degree of competence, I believe you're ready for the next level:D

In the fall, when it's time to blow down the sprinklers, take that whole assembly off like we discussed before and adapt an air fitting to a union and use that to blow down the lines.
If you do that, your new backflow preventer should last another one of @Gramps lifetimes.

compared to the broken backflow that was on there previously....an inspector should be happy to see that repair was made, even if it was by my hands

The average Joe has been feeling the pain for years and it's only going to keep stretching them. Usually it's a 20yr cycle and we're only halfway there. Only time will tell, but prices aren't sustainable even though so many people still see the prices as cheaper than where they came from. They aren't moving here to take the jobs of people at the bottom of the pay scale who are being forced out, the ones who actually keep the city functioning.

Not saying that the timing is exactly correct... But it's coming. Just thought it was funny that they are already predicting something.

All depends on if Colorado can continue to sustain the Population in-flow, that is what has driven everything. Hoping every state will legalize the weed so maybe it slows down a bit.

Do any legit companies make a high clearance/swingout rear bumper that don't have a month lead time?
