yeah my current ones are close or a little under a year old and they broke at the rubber where the leather meets. Plus they leak water obviously now.

its a double edged sword...neat to find antlers...sad/troubling you never saw the animal that dropped them...in some cases a trophy animal.;)

Another boot question/observation, does anyone else wear Irish Setters? I wear Red Wings all day for work, and Irish Setters are the best hiking boot I have found. They are made in China, but my feet don't care. This last pair has held up for 2 seasons, and my brothers Danner's didn't last one season. He keeps trying to talk me into Danner Pronghorns, maybe when these wear out.

Clearly, the western states are brutal on boots!

I have to dodge deer in the off-seasons, but by god they turn invisible from Sept-Jan lol

I wear Irish Setters for work. My company gives us an allowance at Red Wing and I can get Irish Setters without paying anything out of pocket. They are pretty comfortable for steel toes and they hold up pretty well. Haven't tried their hiking boots but their work boots are much better than the Georgia Boot mud dogs I used to get at tractor supply for the same price.

really not that difficult...just have to do it in an orderly fashion. Chemicals do most of the work :)
