Long bed because the AC model has the same wheelbase as a short bed and is no worse for wheeling. If you got a short bed, you should have just bought a 4 Runner. A "truck" with a 5 foot bed is nonsense and looks weird. The only taco with proper looking dimensions is the AC and therefore long bed.

    There. 4 solid reasons.

    I had a 2005 DCSB. Bought a 2017 DCLB.

Went with a long bed because I wanted to be able to sleep in the bed, haul my snowboard or speargun without needing to put it diagonally in the bed, and i bought a diamondback cover. The long bed gave me an additional 6.8 cubic feet of storage space under the cover.

As far as maneuverability in the city or urban environment. I noticed the bigger turning radius while doing U turns and pulling into some parking spots.

Parallel parking is actually easier in my LB than it was in my SB. This is because I didn't have a backup camera in my SB. Now with the LB I can get much closer while pulling in.

Just depends on what you use the truck for. I needed to haul a bike and some other stuff.

I personally think long beds look better lifted also so it was a no brainer for me

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
    Shitty thread.

LB is better, and best with an Access Cab. The SB has a defect in the body lines where the cab meets the bed. On the LB models, the lower body "crease" that is in the doors carried over in to the front part of the bed. It looks correct. In the short bed, the wheel well is so far forward that the body crease isn't there. To the bed sticks out where there should be a crease, and looks goofy as hell.

Lets be honest here. If you really want an offroad vehicle, a standard wheelbase Jeep is better:crapstorm:. These are trucks, a useful bed is best!

Short beds are useless. Looks like there is something missing in a short bed. If you like rocks getting kicked up from the ground while you are driving. because you are using a bed extender because you needed that extra foot. You might as well buy a Ridgeline.

How many of these threads do we need? Each situation and person is unique, you get what fits what you want; pretty simple without having to ask an internet forum of random people which they like/prefer/are biased which is the best...

Personally the long bed is more useful and looks better when lifted with larger tires but it is slightly less maneuverable and has a slightly higher chance and getting high centered that most will never notice. Either way, just buy what you want and fits your needs or search any of the other threads asking the same exact question.

BTW, short beds are far from useless, that 1 extra foot isn't magically making the longer bed 100x more useful. We hauled so much in our old short bed with the bed extender it wasn't even funny, we have a long bed now and much appreciate the added length. While it is more useful it isn't significantly more.

SB - wheelbase is far better for offroading.

Long bed. The beds on these trucks are already narrow and shallow. The argument that a bed extender means you can get by with a short bed is stupid. You can also have a bed extender on a long bed, and have that much more...

Plus the additional foot in wheelbase isn't going to mean you're going to get stuck in every situation off the black top. Pick a good line, lift the truck and a taller tire and you'll be just fine. In some instances the longer wheelbase actually helps.

I've had both, I'll never own another SB. It was the most useless thing about the truck. But I also use the truck to haul stuff constantly. So for the guys that never use their bed then I guess a SB is fine.

I have had no issues going off road with my Long Bed. I use mine for over landing purposes so the long bed was a no brainer for me. Now if I was into rock crawling yes the short box would be better for that specific use I totally agree. Still do able in a long box just need to beef up with sliders (which I have) and additional skid plates.

Now that Toyota is making the Long Bed in the TRD OR it was time for me to jump on the long bed bandwagon. Being able to sleep in the back at 6'1" is a plus for summer time camping as well. Plus the long box at 6' is what a standard truck bed should be. Shouldn't even really call it a Long box...should just be "the standard". The short bed being 5' is not the norm in the truck world from what I have seen. Can't even tell you how many friends I have who have said when you get a truck, get one with a 6' bed or don't get one at all.

In addition, according to Toyota's website, the long bed has the same break over angle as the short bed. :notsure: So there is no advantage there for the short box going off road if Toyota is stating the right specs on their own vehicles. Oh and you also get a little extra nicer ride with the long box and extra tow capacity too if I remember correctly?

In all honesty, I got the long bed because I mountain bike and didnt want to have a bed extender to be able to carry my bike. With all my gear I wanted the bed to be securely sealed and didnt want to risk something getting through the openings on the extender.

Also go out to the desert to go shooting so the extra secured storage space is a must for all of that gear.

I hauled a 59" wide dresser that the ol' lady sold on craigslist last week. It fit perfectly in the short bed. If it had been 65" I would have used a bed extender or a couple of ratchet straps and been fine.

    Just sayin'

Toyota Brochure also says the TRD Pro has a lift over the other trims. Toyota Brochure also said the 2017 Automatic was going to get bigger gears in the rear end at one point.
