Bought one to load atv without destroying the tail gate. Gives a much more solid feel and not worried about folding the gate in half.

    Steel vs. aluminum

Which material do you guys prefer? Is there any issue with either material if I plan to re-install the OEM plastic cover over top of either? Thank you!

Depends how you intend to use it. If you are loading ATVs or using it for work with heavy objects, you might want steel. I got aluminum, and found that although the lighter option, adds a significant amount of weight to the gate when it swings down.

I reinstalled the OEM cover no prob.

After I clicked "Post Reply" I realized I should probably clarify. Mostly light duty, normal truck stuff. It's my DD but I don't want to worry about stepping up on the gate (220 lbs) or loading a small (250cc) 4 wheeler or hauling a load of firewood.

    Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about stepping on an aluminum one while the truck is parked, but you should probably get a good idea of weight from your ATV, especially if one axle is riding on the gate as you drive. Dynamic loading (bouncing down the road to your favorite ATV spot) can be a bitch. I'd search this thread for ATV or motorcycle or bike to see what other might share form their experiences.

I like the aluminum version as I use my truck as a work truck so scratches are inevitable. The AL won't rust and is plenty strong imo... lots of heavy steel has been dragged across it and I even had a forklift operator accidentally rest his forks on it with probably 600-700 lbs of pressure.
When I want to 'freshen' it up I just squirt some new paint on it and good to go

I got the aluminum version. The heaviest thing I load on it every now and then is a motorcycle. I'm honestly glad I didn't get the steel version because the aluminum one is heavy enough. I can't imagine how much heavier the steel would be. I added an EZ Down tailgate strut to help with the load.

I also just recently took the OEM plastic cover off because I wanted a flat surface to set stuff on. I love the look of it.

Just got my aluminum one today. I'm impressed with the bombproof packaging, hope to get it installed this weekend. Not the greatest picture with the sun glare.

Wow, I take it our 2nd gen stock tailgate cables are plenty strong enough to support my weight(200lb) and my 375lb ADV bike during loading and unloading then?

What's the best way to contact you? I would like to order this but use my own shipping label since I get a discount through work.

Sorry we do not offer that option. Our rates account for additional things such as packaging materials

What's the shipping cost to 92596?

If need be, I don't mind paying a "handling" fee. I'm in the logistics industry so I understand that shipping materials and labor are not cheap.

Shoot me an email if we can work something out!

    @RelentlessFab Yes please, is there?

Also what do you have in stock right now? About to install a GFC and this would really tie it all together nicely...
