Bug deflecters

I was wondering, I want to install a bug guard, either AVS or EGR on my 2010 tacoma. what Im worried about is how it fits , does it rub the grill or will the rubber seal thats under the hood be in the way. thanks

 

Depends on what manufacturer and what model you get.

Some mount on brackets that hold the guard away from the hood a bit, some mount right to the underside of the hood.

I had a Lund Avenger that mounted to the underside of the hood. I left the rubber seal on. Didn't seem to make a difference. Everything worked fine and it did not rub on anything.

 

My AVS doesn't seem to be rubbing on anything.

I haven't taken it off to confirm this due to the plastic screws pieces having that single use quality about them. Not sure it they will work as intended if re-used.

 

i have a weathertech b/s. fits great. but it does stick out further on the sides than the factory one does, and the ends broke off. thinking about getting a factory one for a replacment.

 

The factory one is the one that you don't want.

Plenty of information to research on it, but they have a moronic design that employs clips (5?) resting on the surface of the hood to support the shield.

The obvious result over time as a result of wind flex would be that the clips wear through the little plastic 'buffer' pads they adhere between the clips and the hoods surface.

Stupid design that had lead to predictable damage to plenty of hoods of people who should have known better.

Stay away from the ones with the clips supporting the shield against the hood. (Toyota OEM)

 

So which one is best? AVS, EGR, or WeatherTech?
