any reason to go OME vs Bilstein 5100s? also regarding the OME set-up i have the following additional mods that will add weight: camper shell w/ in a yr, steel rear bumper w/ tire carrier w/ in the next 1.5 yrs and steel or aluminum front bumper w/ in the next 2 yrs. do you think just go with the 887 or 888 and if I find after the front bumper im sagging a bit i can swap to 886? in the meantime my goal is a comfortable ride with improved on and off-road handling

As far as OME vs Bilstein it's a matter of preference and budget. I believe the OMEs are a bit softer and forgiving for off road comfort (I'm not an expert on the OME shocks so don't quote me on that). I think your plans for the front end sound right on. Since you're planning to get a plate bumper I would get the 888s (slightly taller). Once you get the bumper up front if it sags too much get the 886. In the rear, since you plan to add a camper shell, plate bumper and tire carrier, you may want to replace the OEM rear leaf springs with a set of Dakar springs.

If you want a true 33, don't go with boss 2.5 kit. Had to go with 275/65R18 due to rubbing or you get 17" rims like I should have...no worries, I love my set up! Just need to diagnose that vibrations in the wheel, pedals, and console.

1 hour. Of cussing and head scratching.
Another member chimed in on another thread thankfully.

The written instructions inside the box say to reassemble as per OEM (pitch facing up), but the visual diagram shows the opposite. Which ones do you think I followed first...lol :annoyed:

so going with 5100's front with matching rear. do I go with notch 2 (.65), notch 3 (1.1) or notch 4 (1.55) ?

will going notch 3 or 4 cause issues with front/rear level?

will I need to do anything else if I go higher than notch 3?

this will be a city/highway driver with maybe mild off road (graded dirt roads and unmaintained dirt roads) for hunting by the wife.

must be as close to factory ride quality above all else.

What you've heard is probably referring to Deaver's J66 spring pack. Which isn't designed to carry any additional weight. I believe the pack being discussed here are the U402 expedition springs.

Just installed the toytec boss 2.0 on my sons TRD 4x4 OR DCSB and the ride is sweet with blocks in the rear. The ride is almost like stock if not for the KO2's 275-70-17E tires which is hardly noticeable . It is real comfortable for a DD that I'm doing the same soon. You don't have the bouncy side to side roll as stock which makes it perfect. It is the great lift kit with no side effects like vibrations. $.02

Hey guys! New to the forum and the Toyota world. Bought my Tacoma last week and asked the dealer to level it out for me and add step rails.

Measured out, the front sits about a 1/4" higher. Bothers me a little but I'm wondering if it's even noticeable to anyone but me if you don't know it. I'm a little OCD about these kind of things. Planning on getting Bilstein 5100s for the front eventually instead of spacers, but in the meantime I'm wondering if this slight lean is even noticeable if you don't know it's 1/4" higher?

    Thanks everyone!

Welcome! Your picture looks level to me. I am not seeing the high front. Give the springs a little time to settle first in the front (5000 miles) and it might just be fine for then.

Question on the boss front coilovers, can the height be adjusted while one the truck if you lift the truck on a floor jack?

Yes. Most adjustable coilovers are adjusted in this manner.

Ok just so I can understand better. I am new to this. I just bought a 17 Taco and it is already 1" higher than the other gen's. does that mean I can only add a 2" lift before I have to make adjustments to other items, break lines, etc. I only want to use it on road and will not be doing any off-roading here in south Florida. What do you recommend I get just to raise it another 1" or 2"?

    Someone offer some wisdom.

Stock 4x4 trd sport dcsb here.

If I replace my rear shocks with fox shocks 2.0 performance series meant for 2-3" lift at stock height what could I expect and will it even work? Thanks

That should work fine. You won't get any lift in the rear unless you install AAL or a full leaf pack. But you will have better quality suspension.

I'm guessing it will be stiff, but sport suspension is already kinda stiff from what everyone says. Given I'm coming from a sports car so I don't feel it

    Thoughts on ride quality
