Short Bed or Long Bed?

Long bed...can fit multiple dog crates for upland hunting.

 

Not true, this a matter of personal taste and not what cab was meant to go with a certain bed length.

 

I would get this one...oh, wait, I already did.

 

Which is better short or long? I think they are about 10 to 1 short. That being said I have a long...

 

Long bed FTW. Especially lifted in terms of looks. I can see the short going over rocks/hills being of a benefit but it just looks tarded. Plus in certain markets the long beds get a better resale value.

 

Short beds are like carry on luggage....what's the point. Long bed FTMFW!

 

Long bed is still too short for me to sleep in, so went with the short bed. Everything I've had to transport that doesn't fit in the bed, either fits fine with the gate down, or gets put on the bed rack.

 

Have had a shortbed for 12 years, every day I wished I had more room, now that I have a longbed, never thought I have too much.


Don't let @smitty99 near your longbed, he'll high center it.

 

Longer wheelbase tracks better on the road at speed and more stable when towing.

 

Just do what everybody else does including myself.... buy the shortbed first then realize later how you fucked up.

Some of us go back and correct our mistakes, the rest live with them.

But then there's people that have to do things the hard way and never learn so Toyota kept that shitty little useless bed to make money off those poor dumb bastards. That's why it's so easy to find a SB at the dealer; just put "Tacoma" on it, pump the resale / popularity angle and you can sell the them anything, no matter how silly or useless it is with that little box.

There's a reason Toyota didn't put 5 ft beds on regular and access cabs on the 1st and 2nd gens and eventually added 6ft beds to the dcabs, 5 ft is too short to be useful, it's the defect.

 

Long bed! I have kids and Lots of expensive hobbies. No way could I Make a short bed work.

 

Yes, Tonneau covers are useless. Real trucks don't have them.

Long bed ftw.
More comfortable (long wheel base) on long trips, less noises, (rear diff howls, leaf springs, etc.).
Extreme off-road, not so good, but nothing that can't be overcome with lift and big ass tires.

Long bed. Asssex cab ftw. No ridiculous overall length, functional bed. Sacrifice the seats.

 

Access cab. Get the best off-road performance and a long bed so you don't have to drive a truck with a fanny pack instead of a proper utility bed.
