It's a switch you can use on their controller to switch modes.

I tried to run that same clutch set up, but unfortunately the 5VZ Pressure plate has been discontinued so tracking one down is tough to do. I found a couple on eBay but they were a little pricey compared to what they cost when they were being produced still.

I tried buying just the ACT 5VZ pressure plate from 3 different companies and they all told me the same thing...that they manufacture had discontinued them. I didn't look into the whole kit since the disc and TOB will not work on a 3RZ. Maybe they still do the kit but not the PP by itself. IDK. That was just my experience

LCE has a pretty good price on clutches. I'm just going that route. It's like 400 for the full kit. I'll just get a LUK flywheel off parts geek.

That was just this past fall that I was shopping around. I ended up using a stock Aisin 5VZ PP with Stock Aisin 3rz disk, TOB and pilot. I used a LUK flywheel as well. The 5vz PP is supposed to hold close to 350tq. So far it's hold great. Altogether cost about $220. I figure if it doesn't hold i can put a LCE PP on it later.

well it was an 04 and I assumed since the 1gr came out with the 03 t4r that if a tundra had a v6 option it would have been that instead of the 5vz, really caught me off guard

Nope. No 1st gen tundra got the 4.0. Not till 2nd gen was that an option. Different tranny. Would have cost too much money to get it to fit and all so they just waited it out.

dang well I thought they used the same tranny as the 2nd gen taco in 04 too since its the same for the 4th gen t4r in 4.0 and 4.7 right?

    you'd think..

But the 4runners always get the good shit since its the "luxury" 4x4 for toyota. But they got lots of cool shit tacomas didn't get. Hell 3rd gen 4runners got ATRAC in 2000. 5 years before the tacoma did. They also had multi mode tcases. tacomas never got that.
