Lots of bum camps concentrated near OB, but yeah anywhere near GGP is iffy. I lived near UCSF and Lincoln is littered with auto glass especially near the east end of the park. If you didn't see my above posts I was broken into 3 times. Actually 4 times, once my windows were cracked because upholstery shampoo and someone yanked one of my windows down. So 2 window smash, one screwdriver to the door lock and one window yank. Also 2 people I know within the last week were burgled in SF, one in a prius and one in a new tundra. Both reported that there was no broken window or forced entry yet all their possesions were stripped from the interior of the vehicle including owners manuals and insurance cards. I suppose there is a chance they both left their cars unlocked but am more inclined to believe that pro thieves have figured out how to open the locks with some spoof device that imitates your key fob. My friend in the prius knew there was a good chance his car would be broken into so he brought most of his possesions into his airb2b but forgot an expensive piece of scientific equipment on the floor behind the passenger seat.

The first time that my wife and I visited San Francisco, we couldn't get over the fact that it seemed like a whole different world. Like a world without any authority lol. Walking in downtown, a old crackhead looking guy was taking a leak in a red solo cup. When he finished, he turned around towed the street and tossed it. A couple of drops got on my wife's sandals so we had to stop in the next convenience store so she could dump a bottle of Purell on her foot lol. We have some cars broken into here in TX, but nothing like what goes in out there. I feel bad for you guys.

I see you guys have walked through the tenderloin/civic center area. That is where all the crazies/homeless are. When I use to live in nob hill area my Honda prelude was stolen 5 times just for joy rides in a year. Now when I go downtown I just park in the lots. It helps alittle when you have tint on the windows too. All my cars have 20%.

Get rid of that car. I don't believe in a lot of stuff but that car might be bad luck haha. Had a friend with a Mazda 3. Stolen twice and broken into multiple times. Got rid of the car and got a jeep. Never happen again. Good grief .

I lived in LA for 10 years. Rates about the same as AZ except I never had full glass coverage in CA which sucked!

Yes it feels that way but is probably similar to other states. But not all Californians live in SF. State is pretty big 35million or so and SF Bay Area is probably 5-7million depending on where you draw the line.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
My 07 was victimized a few days before Christmas back in 09 I think it was. I was used to living on base and was visiting my in laws for the holidays and left the truck unlocked. I came out on Christmas eve pretty hung over and noticed something was not right. Stuff thrown all over inside and after a few min was like "oh shit, somebody has been in here". I figure someone was walking around pulling on door handles and mine opened right up. They got some cash, a checkbook, a multi tool, pair of oakleys and they took my stereo remote. We had a bunch of snow on the ground so I wrote a note to the thief on a box and left it in the front yard. I thanked the thief for not damaging my truck in the heist and alerted them to having closed the checking account. I told them to keep the sunglasses and gerber along with the cash but ask that they return the remote as it had no function without the stereo. My wife and her family and everyone driving and walking by got a kick out of it but the next morning I went outside and at the bottom of my note on the box the thief had responded that they were sorry and my remote was sitting on top of the box. It sucked but was pretty funny looking back!

I just had someone break into the rear sliding window in my truck in Richmond. They complexity broke the latch off the rear sliding window. I can't find that part anywhere and they Toyota dealership said they would have to replace the whole window.

Anyone know where I could get a replacement latch for a 2016 Tacoma?

Someone on this site makes a bar that fits in the rail back there to prevent the window from sliding open. Might be a good idea to go ahead and grab one for now.

I saw the bar in my search, but I wanted to get the window back to new as well.
