I'm getting conflicting opinions from the dealership. Is the JBL System available on the 2017 Sport? Do I have to take the tonneau cover with it?

If it's already on the truck you're probably stuck with it. You can tell the dealer to take it off and that you don't want to pay for it. Then they can detract the value from the deal but they are not obligated to do this to sell you the truck just like you are not obligated to buy the truck. It's all about negotiations and whether or not it is worth it to them or to you. Often times what I see reported here is the dealer will just take the cost of it off the deal and you'll get it for free. They can't really resell it. It's a factory installed option. Most Dealers don't like to fuck with that kind of thing (removing then hassling with trying to resell).

I got my truck with JBL and no cover. I got the dealer to somewhat customize the truck that was coming in on allocation from factory and I told them I did not want it shipped with the cover so it worked out for me. Toyota is shipping a certain % of the trucks with the cover supposedly to help with their fuel economy/EPA numbers. However whether or not a bed cover actually makes a notable difference in fuel economy numbers is a highly debated theory.

Yeah, they offered to take it off (I require a cap)and deduct, which is fine. but it seems they forgot to order the JBL System, and now I'm wondering whether to take the truck without it (JBL) or wait another 5/6 weeks to let them build me another one. Whaddya think?

Yes there is no way of getting out of the tonneau cover, believe me I tried to get it removed. Non removable option with JBL

I would wait to get the truck you want. The JBL system is a nice addition in my opinion and there's nothing worse than buying something so expensive and regretting you didn't get XXX or YYY option with it, when you really wanted it. You'll kick yourself for possibly years to come for not waiting an extra 5 or 6 weeks to get the color or options you really wanted on a big investment. Wait to get what you want. My $.02

Not really true as I got out of mine. They shipped my truck from factory without it although it was originally slated to get one, the dealer was able to have it removed as a factory option.

I agree with you, and think that's what I'll do. The mods on the bed rail to accommodate the cover are annoying and I'd prefer not to have 4 holes cut, but with the cap on it'll be hardly noticeable within a month. The JBL system is another story, and I'll always regret not having it (musician!).

I did notice a certain sluggishness when taking off from a standing start. Does this improve?

I was able to find my 2017 4x4 Sport with JBL and No Cover. I also seen it at other dealers while purchasing. It's possible to find it just have to either wait, order it or ask them to removed and deduct value.

NO. Definitely consider the manual transmission!!!!!! The automatic gets heaps of criticism online here and from multiple major reviewers (Car & Driver, JD Power, Consumer Reports, and a myriad of smaller review videos)

I just bought a TRD Sport with the JBL last weekend. It has the tonneau cover but what the heck, worst case scenario take it off yourself and put it for sale on here or Craigslist. I figured with the expense of having to license this thing and pay like 3300 in sales tax I will get by with the factory cover for a few months.

If I didn't use my bed so often (hunting dogs in and out) I wouldn't mind having the cover myself. It works for some people.

Yeah, I've gotta have a cap - band gear needs to be out of the weather. What I'm getting is a local dealer telling me one thing and you guys telling me another - I'm tending to believe what y'all are saying - that it IS possible to get the exact options i want despite what the idiot salesman says. I'm going to the sales mgr now, don't need this shit to happen again. If anyone wants a '17 Sport dbl cab w/ sunroof, tonneau, and NO JBL, I can hook you up with a dealership that has one

Not a sport, but my 17 OR came from factory with fully loaded JBL and no tonneau.

I had the cover removed from my build and have regretted it once or twice. They have to cut a piece out of the bed rails to install it which is why I didn't want it. I've only ever needed it once... traveling with 4 others and luggage and it was raining. Ended up just putting everyone's stuff in garbage bags and that worked.

I don't think the manual comes with jbl option on the sport.

I agree with other on here to wait and get the JBL. I was skeptical at first because I like to put in my own sound system in my rides but found that it's pretty good.
