Catalytic Converter Theft Ring Busted

Though the target vehicle is primarily the Tundra in this story, I'm sure the Tacoma is also a prime target.

Sounds like Cats are way too much. All the more reason to ditch em besides the fact that global warming is hoax Seriously though, who woulda thought? Kind of ridiculous

 

Mine got hacked off on 11/17 at work. I remember the since it was my wife's
b-day. Dealer cost to replace was about $1900. I hate crooks!!!

 

Crazy expensive. I think it would be claimable under full coverage auto insurance though.

 

I made a claim to get it fixed. I got a check from them the next morning. Had it fixed the next day.

 

I know it has been real bad here lately.
Hopefully it will slow down.

 

What is interesting about this type of theft, is that scrap yards that buy this stuff could use a little more oversight from law enforcement much like pawn shops. (not that the oversight really prevents stolen property from being pawned).

Not sure what regulations are in place for scrap yards, but if there wasn't a demand (scrap yards buying the stuff) there wouldn't be much supply (thieves selling the stuff). Instead of going after the supply, cut off the demand.
