The 16 2tr isnt qvailable in long block yet. Toyota will probably give him a new short block, gasket kit and whatever fluids. they'll reuse everything else.

I had issues with my rebuild cuz they slapped everything together and pushed it put the door. I had toyoya investigate as to what was inspected and the dealer had nothing for them. So most likely an inspection of every part was not done. They didn't rebuild the head or anything which lead to issues due to metal particles finding their way into the "new" motor.

I would open up a case with toyota and fight them for a long block. I work for a dealership my self and i wouldnt care if a master tech is building it. At the end of the day warranty pays a fraction of what it actually takes to do the job and everyone is rushing. If warranty isnt paying specifically for say an inspection of the headbolts, they'll just reuse it. Which is fine cuz they are reuseable as long as its within spec and it most likely is given the low mileage on the engine but taking that chance and not actually measuring things is something i have a problem with.

Dont even get me started on the driveline vibrations that have appeared since the dealership gave me my truck back. Idling issues. Coolant leak. Loose vacuum hoses.

Day 20 will be monday so after 30 days you have to send a repurchase form to the manufacturer and then according to the form they have to swap or repurchase the truck whichever you prefer and according to our state law they have to keep your financing in place same terms and just swap vins....every state may be different but this is what is required in my state....no call to me from corp today so who knows what back dealing they are doing....:bananadead:

I'm only going off what the dealer told me during an unrelated conversation. He stated that Toyota did not provide crate engines and that they rebuild them if need be. I was surprised a bit but he seemed to know about this. He said that all the other manufacturers as far as he knew did provide crate motors but not Toyota.

I would say I find that surprising, but after more than a year reading things on TW about some of Toyota´s ways, I can believe that.

Wow hope you get it resolved and get to put some miles on it, my brothers tacoma immobilizer system crashed and Toyota was not able to repair it after 3 months in their shop and had 70,000 miles, had to trade it in as it only started when it wanted too, new trucks have so many problems that can go wrong now, got to have bumper to bumper warranty, Toyota and Toyota corporation didn't want anything to do with the truck after that, spent 3000 trying to fit the problem, no dice, no refund, no Toyota support

I agree with Old School at this point. If you are sure they are all well aware of it then I would lay low. Why even call to remind them if you are sure they know? At this point you don't want someone throwing together a repair just to beat the timeframe for LL purposes. I also think you should be careful with your posts. Remember, every word you speak and everything you write can come back to bite you. I know you are ticked, everyone on here would be, but at this time I would do more listening and documenting than speaking. You will get your chance to speak later. The clock is ticking and you are in the driver's seat so I would error on the side of not screwing this up.

I understand the need to vent but lawyers love social media. Almost everyone says something that eventually comes back to bite them. This would be a great time to go outside and have a long talk with your dog. If you don't have one, get one. They really care and never say a word to anyone. :)

Other than doing what Toyota says, your dealer has no dog in this fight. I have said his from day one and so have others. They didn't make the truck, Toyota did. They are limited with their options and Toyota will control the outcome. I am not sure what any argument/beef with them will accomplish.

The taco is being stuffed...er the engine is supposedly almost reassembled and just waiting for some more O rings to finish the job....then they claim they will do a full day of testing on the car....I did ask if they could wash it and fill it up since I have to return their rental full or they charge 6.00 a gallon he said he would have to check w the manager lol these guys wow....and I will look it over myself very closely for dents dings paint chips and overall that all the clips and mounts etc look good as that is a lot to put back just right and the photo is just to illustrate all they have to reassemble and gives me something to compare it with if they are able to finish on time...IMG_0385.jpg
