I have 2017 Tacoma trd sport and with it came the push to start feature. With that key fob they also gave me an actual key as well. Was wondering if there is a ignition switch for that hard key and if so where it is.

    Thanks, Leroy

the key they gave you is to lock the tailgate, theres a pair of tabs underneath the lid of the center console where you can keep that key

Okay thanks, so there is no manual ignition, just figured there might be cause the two key fobs come with keys as well for tailgate

The key in the fob is for the drivers side door lock, in case your fob battery is dead. If it is dead you can put the fob near the push to start button and it will detect it and still start. This way a dead keyfob battery won't leave you stranded.

Key in the FOB also unlocks the tailgate, it only works in one orientation however.

Not on mine, I am not sure when they changed it, but the 2016's have a completely different and separate key for the tailgate. Which is ridiculous.

Interesting... the 2017's key fob works in the tailgate as well as comes with the extra key

Man I'm glad I have a manual tranny... 1 key does everything it's supposed to do.

I had read that this didn't work, but when I tried my FOB key in the tailgate, and it worked, I just kept quiet so I didn't get flamed here for seeing something that wasn't possible. Thanks for confirming what I saw.

Just make sure that you're completely overly sensitive to every post and then grossly overreact whenever you feel even the slightest bit threatened. That's how we're doing things now.

I better not make any more unnecessary comments. Wouldn't want to further damage my TW "street cred"

The 16 had a seperate key for the tailgate and the key in the fob locks the glovebox and opens the driver door, for 17 they updated to a single key that does all. Ive had my tailgate latches freeze a couple times and had to force my big key to open... i would not trust that little key to have the force i needed and not snap.

But it matches the one in the fob?
