I was impressed by Mr. R's in buffalo. Hadn't been there before but it's actually quite nice and organized...for a junkyard at least. Way bigger than I expected too.

Didn't get to explore at all, they had the motor on a pallet and ready to go already. I'd be surprised if they didn't have any 1st gens laying around.

He got in over his head and was not able to fulfill orders in a group buy. The TW 'community' was pretty tough on him when he fell behind. I'm pretty sure in the end everyone that ordered and paid either got a full refund or got their bumper.

Some of the harshness you heard in the pelfrey bumper thread is urban legend and hear-say. Folks are repeating things they've over heard and weren't part of the experience first hand.

    yeah as Mike said.

I talked to him about it a lot while it was going down. He worked at a hospital as a radiologist. Was working way way to many hours to keep up the side business of the bumpers. I guess he kept hiring people to do it for him but they all flaked out every time and he ended up doing most the work himself anyways.

I tried to get him to sell the plans to Jerry or someone that could have kept up and didn't have a bumper design. He wouldn't do it though.

Was a nice guy, but just change careers and didn't want to stop fabricating. But he also couldn't anymore with the time allowed. Got tore apart on here..

I mean..he did keep taking orders..that he shouldn't have..and was VERY slow to follow through on orders. So not like he didn't totally deserve it. Was a bummer it all went down in flames though. He had a great design.

haven't heard from him in 3 years or better now..

Actually my favorite first gen bumper by far. I think the only brand left that makes all of his himself and no one else is brute force fab. But he had a similar issue in the past when his dad died and tw orders backed up and they grilled him. Since then he's been back and working hard. Also has a dope 2nd gen sas

    Billy's rig is ridiculous.

The elites weren't perfect..but yeah..they were the best looking by far. The rear bumper is gorgeous. I don't think anyone will ever make one like it in mass production. Hell i think there are only 20-30 of the rears out there.

Not a lot of one man shows anymore. Which is fine i think. That is hard to do it all alone. I think all the shops like that go through stuff like that. Hell Eric at relentless used to have almost a year lead time..haha He came through though and made it work. Now he has a full crew.

Jerry did it right from the get go and got into just the metal works industry and does the armor on the side. Has a full staff of people now.
But now he doesn't spend as much time on it as he has lots of other things that make more money. So its a side gig now.

Pelfrey did the same. Expanded into a full crew. Stopped doing full custom stuff. and bam, their turn around time is killer.

Look at CBI or Camburg too.

Hard enough to make it with just offroad accessories and bumpers and stuff. Why Pelfrey is branching into Jeeps. Same with SCS.

Yeah don't ever let Service Master Fire & Water Restoration by Johnny on the Spot into your home. They hire temps from Gem State Staffing and don't even back ground check them, they had felons packing people's houses up after floods/fires.

It's a pretty fancy deal they've got going there. The shop we pulled up to had tons of parts and motors on pallets all ready to go

I'd imagine they pull valuable parts off whatever comes in then either scrap the rest or put it out in the lot for people to pick from.

Felons need jobs when they get out of jail. Not all people labeled felons are bad people. Have hired a few in my day and most are just people that made a bad choice and forever labeled because of it.

You can search their parts online. I just about got a used motor from them. Easy people to work with.
