Check all the wiring harnesses if they clipped back on the firewall. Check all the cv boots and tie rods. Check your alignment if the truck tracks straight. I would also look for any oil leaks or stains under the engine. It all better be looking brand new and not like someone just worked on it. Look for any rounded off bolts (you would be suprised). You will be able to tell within a day of driving if they screwed something up. Good luck and report back!

Thats my thoughts that it should all look new and correct if not they can keep it and correct it for sure...hopefully I can pick it up when the service manager is there and we can both take it for a short drive after looking it over...and then we can see how many mins days or weeks it stays out of the shop this time :bananadance:

Maybe pull a new one from the lot right beside it, pop the hood, and compare? I would. Take plenty of pics of both of them too to review later. I'm sure there are some guys on here that are really technically sound that can give you some pointers as to what trouble spots to look for over and above making sure it is undamaged and clean as new. Best of luck to you. This really sucks but I do believe if they put in all new and did it right, you will be better off in the end with the much better warranty. They should also pick up a payment for the month you misse driving the truck. I really hope they got this right for you. Peace and good luck...

I agree with pulling a new up next to to compare. Also when you park it at home lay some clean cardboard under it and check it for drips.

It has to be. It's a brand new truck they should have replaced to begin with. Toyota is not what it used to be back in the day. They are just driving sales on their name now. The vehicles are not made with the same quality as just a couple years ago. It would be in their best interest to make good on their customers quietly and take pride at least in their customer service.

Why should they replace the whole truck? From what I've skimmed thru this dizzying-ly long thread is that the motor spun a bearing, scored the block, and it needed replaced. Technically, all Toyota is liable for would be the (1) the block that was irrepairable (2) the spun bearing, which caused the un-repairable block & (3) any other parts directly affected by the spun bearing.

They're covering it under warranty. Case closed. Quit being an entitled little whiner and enjoy your truck when they finish with it.

I'd understand the frustration of having a motor put in a new vehicle after 2 weeks, but everyone might be getting slightly carried away.

The dealer should make good on it by taking care of the customer, and I'd just politely demand the longest extended warranty available.

The tech rebuilding the motor is going to do his best job. Being at a dealer, they are going to give the job to probably one of the most qualified people for a few reasons: first, you are going to receive a survey after this is all done with, so they want the customer to be happy; they don't want to see your truck again for the same issue. Being flat rate, the tech is getting paid for the job this first time. If you come back again with something screwed up from this visit, he most likely isn't going to get paid again. Who likes to work for free??

If it isn't right when you go to pick it up? Make sure they are aware and leave it.

Entitled or not, every freaking one of us would be up in arms if our two week old brand new vehicle was getting its engine replaced.

You sir are 100% correct. Even though I have been advising patience and work with the dealer and Toyota from day one that is a do as I say and not as I do response because I would go off if this happened to me and fully understand his position. I think he's coming out of this much better off in the end because if I recall correctly he's getting an alll new (only option to me) engine and a nice long extended warranty. I'd even push for a month's payment since he was without it. This just sucks any way you slice it.

Bottom line is its not an easy job however it is easy to mess up for example I had a gm car at a dealer and they broke the fuse box cover didnt tell me and said the car was ready I got there and inspected it and of course they replaced it no charge but now I have a new truck if I get it back in time before the lemon law starts that I will have to inspect all over and constantly check for some time...best case it never has to go back for this issue again or anything related to it worst is Im on a first name basis with the service advisor and on their christmas lists

Your LL time is not just consecutive days in most cases. It's accumulative. I hope this is it and the truck lasts forever but you never know...

If I am not "entitled" to a new truck for full price, then they are not entitled to take my money and give me a defective one and force me to fix it.
