And the 265/70/17 rubbed? That's strange... they should fit perfectly fine on stock suspension. Once lifted you'll need to up the camber into the 3-degree range, but they shouldn't be touching the mud flaps stock...

Different offset I'm guessing is the cause. And yep I've heard the alignment is key

 

Sometimes paying for something makes it cheaper in the long run. I have done a lot of running around on my kit and have taken a lot of time and it's still not installed. Lol.

 

Run into that daily at work haha. Often buying new is cheaper for clients than paying labour Anne time for us running around trying to fix old shit. The amount it cost for a single breaker for old gear can cost the same as just replacing the gear.

 

Crazy how it works sometimes. No need to rapair shit, just replace it lol.

Very productive day with it.

Installed the sliders, sort of, Only have 3 holes where the bolts went through, in some of the cut out's the frame wasn't even drilled so have a feeling I'll be drilling.
wash and wax with collinite super double coat.
installed the hood struts so no more need for prop bar
pics are before I washed just after the sliders, so truck is even cleaner now.

You just reminded me I need to install my own hood struts and light kit. Have been putting it off for ages.

 

one tip, when drilling use a stop on the drill bit.

Its not really noticable but I messed up on the driver side on one hole. was pushing too hard and when it went through hit the under side of the hood, not looks like a stone chip but reverse lol. paint is fine but you can actually see a slight little dent in the hood. Only noticeable if the sun hits it right.

I'm just hoping it didn't damage the paint. Doesn't look like it or anything just worried it would start pealing. But I'll keep an eye on it and make sure it stays waxed should be good.

If it was going to be some show truck I'd probably be pissed. But since its going to get dinged and scratched up on trails whatever. can only look pretty for so long lol.

 

Oh and on a positive not I've made use of the skid already and the bigger tires saved my bumper haha.
so behind my girlfriends house where I park in the laneway her spot has a stupid parking lot directly across from it for the college.
The curb for that lot is fucking huge, not a normal curb probably close to 30cm if not more. With factory size tires I couldn't clear it, the under part of the black on the front bumper would've hit.

yesterday was parking and moved up a bit too much and felt I hit the curb, got out thinking FUCK i just scratched my bumper.
well just a scratch on the skid haha.
the 1inch bigger tire made me clear it enough so that the skid takes it, not the bumper.

I looked and no longer cared haha.

I wouldn't worry to much about your paint. These trucks a good stiff wind and you will get tons of micro scratches in the paint. It is the least durable paint I have ever seen on a vehicle.

Nice build, did you order your sliders powder coated? I have the same ones but without the top plate and mine are already having some of the powder coat peel off.

 

did you by any chance get yours from CT motorsport? Ski was telling me about how he had one customer recently get them for his 3rd gen as well with powdercoat and is already having problems with it, and RCI isn't returning any calls or emails.

I got mine bare, blasted the tight spots I couldn't get into with my sand blaster thing I got from princess auto (used glass medium) and used my bosch 6" random orbit sander with 120 grit until I was just shiny metal no more black messiness from production. cleaned up all the welds, then primed with zinc coating then painted with krylon industrial rust tough, 4 coats then did some spray bed liner from canadian tire over top of that.

Haven't had any problems with them pealing and they've taken some good abuse already. Only have one spot where it came off a little and it was the same spot that got fucked up when painting them since it was too cold to be spraying them and the coatings didn't cure properly.
