Getting some new smiths today for the upcoming field/fishing year :woot:. Tried to get out this weekend but I had a friend drop off a 10wk old pup so he could go turkey hunting. I was hoping my gf/roommate would be able to handle her for a day but all 3 of us couldn't keep up with her.

15 years ago I went online and found a St Croix Ultra Legend for about $275.00. Still have it. Still use it. Which is the one in the photo?

I've got the same rod - paired with a Ross CLA. It's my dedicated streamer rod for smaller rivers & big streams. Love it!

Took the little camping and fishing this past weekend... She is getting pretty good with the whole casting thing! Just have to reminder to slow down those backcasts.

Lake we were on had a pretty decent midge hatch in the AMs and PMs.

Nothing but stocker rainbows, but they were keyed in on the small stuff! Took me a bit to dig something out that they'd eat.

First time I've been flyfishing for trout in a LONG time... First few casts with that fiberglass 7' 4 weight were down right ugly! Just a little different than the fast 8 and 9 weights I've been using for stripers!

Didn't go trout fishing today but we tore up the crappie at the house. We landed around 60-70 and kept 30. Some were on the fly rod but most were not.

    FINALLY!!!!

After many attempts, I finally got a river striper on the swing with the spey rod!!!

A 12'6" Spey rod is a great tool for making casts with no room behind you, but it sure does make landing fish by yourself a pain!

These fish pull like a freight train... Add some river current and it was a pretty epic fight! She even left me a nice running line burn on my stripping finger! I still can't believe I ended up keeping her out of all the wood!

Had the best worst day of fishing I've ever had Sunday. I hung 8 fish. I landed one. Don't know what the deal was. Broke 2 off, and just lost a 24-25" monster.

Weirdest shit ever though, about 45 mins after breaking one off, I was about 150 yards downstream and got hung up on something. Got it loose, and ended up pulling up the flies I had broken off earlier.

Went back Tuesday and caught several. Nothing big.

All our streams are blown out. We have had unusually large rainfall. I figure a couple weeks and things will be normal.
