How does the frame look? Can anyone confirm this is a TRD off road?

Highly considering purchasing this tacoma. The dealer says it's a 4x4 sr5 with TRD package (but he's not sure if it's off road or not, confirms it does have rear locker). It's hundreds of miles away from me so I can't check it out myself. Also says frame is rust free, I'd just like to see what yall think based on these pictures. Thanks

Looks fairly clean. Might be worth a drive. I do see a little evidence of surface rust but it could be that the previous owner kept it coated with fluid film or something of that nature. Overall that is one I would go take a look at if I were in the market. That is a rare truck in that configuration with a solid frame.

Looks to be an honest off road also.

Hey, thanks for the response. Can you elaborate on this please though? I'm not very knowledgeable on tacomas yet.

Sure, a 1st gen four door that has a frame that is not rusted out is pretty rare or they have a ton of miles and people still ask $16 - $20k for them. Still take the time to poke around and ensure the frame is solid. Look at the forward rear leaf spring mounts and at the frame beside the catalytic converters. If all that is solid and it runs well it should be a fairly nice truck. Overall the condition looks nice and seems to have been taken care of.

Okay, I see what you're sayin. I'll definitely ask for more pictures of the frame. He mentioned it being rust free before I even asked. The dealer seems very open and honest, but they all probably do lol. Btw the doesnt the frame have 15 years to be replaced since purchase date? Could I just get a new frame if that was the case? Just hypothetically, not planning for the frame on this tacoma to have those kind of issues.

I know there is or was a class action open on the frames but as far as I know it would have already had been inspected for that to apply. Don't quote me on it. You can search on here and find a lot of info on it but you also might get horrified also. Like I said in the pictures it looks to be an honest truck but pictures can lie. No real way to know unless you go take a look at it. To a dealer "rust free" normally means the body. Trust me the sales person is not laying under the truck so don't take there word for it. Not even a tech, get under it a poke around yourself.

A positive is that dealers normally do not take or send pictures of the frame. The fact that they have is probably a good sign that it is indeed as honest truck.

Getting under is gonna be impossible. Too far away from me unfortunately.

And yeah I spoke to him on the phone and immediately had his son go out and take all the pics I asked for. He believes the first owner (older man) had it garaged and the second owner only had it for 6 months. He made it clear there's nothing I wrong and nothing I won't like about the truck.

Maybe I can even ask if he's willing to take a video of himself poking around the frame? idk

Gotcha, well with everything there is some amount of risk but honestly on this one I think you are okay. It looks pretty clean. The other option you have it to try and contact someone on here that is close enough to it to go look at it for you. Maybe throw them a couple $'s for doing so and that would ease your worries. Most people on here are pretty good about stuff like that. Just a thought.

From the pics I do see the locker sticjer. Locker equals TRD.

Just where has the truck lived all it`s life ??

    That is the Question .

Warm dryer Southern State never seen winter chemicals ??

Then if it is in a Northern State and has not been inspected and had the band aid put on your on your own.

Still need to check the carfax but since it's in WV I assume it's been there and seen some now.

As JJ Customs said, it's hard to really know the full frame condition without getting under there and feeling around, but from the look of the condition of the small sections they took pictures of it looks to be in excellent solid condition. Good price on what appears to be a nice truck, if you're in the market I'd go for a drive to see it. How many hundreds of miles away?

And yes, there's nothing to indicate that it's not a TRD OR...has everything you'd expect and nothing you wouldn't
