True, will see how the tape looks on it when I get both tires off.

Was planning on taking some leftover 3M vinyl that I have and covering parts of the bike like the top tube where all my sweat gets, on the front tube, and a couple other spots. Should hold up pretty well I think?

Yeah I'm sure it will, just make sure you clean the surface and get the bubbles out. I plan on putting some on my downtube.

Wish we could do that at our local trails. They need some work on them pretty bad but it is hard to get stuff done there.

I wish I could say all man power... but we had 2 mini excavator's. its all downhill and just a tad more than a qaurter mile long which isn't too bad for middle Tennessee and our few hundred feet of elevation.

i had that as well, but with my softtopper, getting the bike in and out while the topper was up and in use was such a pain in the ass, pedals were always getting caught on the tailgate or the topper.

Take a picture of your downtube where it rests on the pad and post it.

I used to live in Seattle and hated even having to drive a couple of hours to ride 4.5 is insane!! Thats the nice thing about montana I can ride right to my door step, mountains all around. This is a post ride beer in my driveway last night, came right off the trail to my house.

Yea I feel you there. I normally have the topper down in the summer for that reason. If its just me or another bike its still not bad with the topper up.

If you ever locate to the east, you might get used to it. Part of the reason Im heavily considering going back to the west. Life here aint worth the lack of. Also, I guess our love for DH is just that strong?

Rub it in! I plan on moving out west within the next 6 months.

Yeah 4.5 hours is the shortest I usually drive haha. Thats nothing compared to the 7 hours for Highland or 8 hours for Mount Sainte Anne in Quebec. The East has so many different options now though its awesome. It's also great getting away for the weekend.

Yea its hard for me to see myself living anywhere else. We also have a lot of down hill Whitefish ski resort is 2hours north of me. Plenty of local stuff to if your willing to pedal or shuttle. We have a small ski hill called snowbowl that runs a lift just not much for trails. We also have disco bike park only about an hour away its fairly new, but the trail builder used to work up at whistler so they have some great stuff!

Where are you moving to? Bellingham Washington is the dream, Kona bikes does all of there testing out there and whistler is just north of the boarder too. If I ever left Missoula this is where I would head!

Too bad engineering jobs are slim to none in Montana, at least in the cool places near mountains. I sometimes wonder why I chose to be mechanical engineer instead of a cool trail guide or ski guide job. Now I have student loans to pay off and need that engineering salary for it.

We may need to coordinate as Im apparently of the same profession...I was thinking of looking into the southern tip of Washington or possibly northern Idaho. I don't mind the 2-3 drives at this point.
