Hilux 167 Snorkel for 3.4L Tacoma

Probably should have gone with the model 821 or 858 as the outlet is larger. But I didn't want a huge ole mushroom - I like the scale of the 1249 in relation to the truck.

Ultimately, I found a small section of some PVC pipe (recycled purple - not that that matters) that fit snugly into the 2" opening on the adapter. Cut it down to 1" tall and now there is a 'backing' for tightening the prefilter to the pipe adapter.

 

An FYI, I've driven in heavy rain many times since installing mine over a year ago, never had an issue with water in the air box

Never had an issue with mine either. I bought a small pre-filter from Outerwears a little while back just for a bit of extra protection. Simple and functional.

 

How deep did you guys drill into the pillar for the rivets?

 

Doesn't have to be super deep. I just used a short bit and punched through it.

We've actually had some rain in SoCal this winter, and twice while driving with the snorkel, I've gotten check engine lights - forgotten the actual code numbers. But it has only been like this since the addition of the snorkel and while driving in heavy rain... Truck still ran fine

 

Not deep. Just enough to put the rivet in.

looks good man, did you have to put washers on ditch light bracket? what did you do about the closing problem, put chicken wire in it?

 

Just one on each bolt for the passenger side.

Nice! Where's your hood?

 

I had to move my ditch bracket and I couldn't get the fender off enough so I said fuck it, took off my hood. I also needed to install my hood struts so that also helped with the taking of the hood off. Just haven't had enough room on my phone to get a pic

 

Ah. I want good struts... but eh. It's a Toyota and the hood doesn't come up all that often

 

They're a really nice feature though haha, I like not snagging my air line on the prop rod. Also I'm going to buy one of these snorkels now....just hope the elbow collapsing things isn't an issue with the 2.7. Just out of curiosity, I have tons of intake piping and silicone couplers, would it be possible to replace that rubber elbow it comes with.
