What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Sure glad you are around to catch all of my fuck ups.

 

Yea, my whole truck is done. outside, underneath, camper shell, bug shield, literally the whole fuckin thing. it added almost a hundred pounds according to the cat scale. my doors will not stay open at all. there's certainly some added weight. worth it for me. no pinstriping, dents are hardly noticeable, soundproofing, crazy ex's cant key it, and according to mythbusters, blast proof! have had it on for about 7 years and haven't noticed any fading whatsoever.

 

got my bed lined and was wondering if this logo looks professional or not? i told them it looked a bit sloppy but they swore that's how they do it on all the trucks they spray

Dude, I'm in the process of changing out my CV Axles (among a TON of other things) and when I went to drain the diff fluid- you know, get the bottom one before the top one- Toyota WAY over-torqued that guy. Literally had them do this like a week before I tried to get the plug off. By the way- didn't have busted CV axles when I got there, and left with busted CV axles...

What I did, was put the socket on it, got the jack under it, and literally used the jack and the truck's weight to get that nut out. You might try one of those "gator" socket things. I'd buy a new one so you can get the new one in once you get that bad boy off. That's my 2 cents- and what I did and it worked.

I believe the torque spec on those is something like 45 ft. lbs. It's not crazy like Toyota torques them to...

That TRD exhaust looks good. A local guy was selling one on here for $200 but it was pretty rusty so I passed, that one's in pretty good shape though.

 

Thanks man! It was a good find, it'll match the TRD headers I have sitting and should open up the s/c.

 

You know you don't get any performance gains with the headers sitting in a box right?

Seriously though, since installing them I get zero pinging, even lugging it on the freeway I can't make it ping.

 

My s/c doesn't ping at all. 7th injector ftw.
But that's interesting that the headers relieved it of that issue.

Nonsense, little bit of filler/primer and a whole new truck and it'll be good as new. Just gotta start by jacking up the headlights and removing everything else.
