    Hello -

I am waiting for my TRD Pro to come in the next couple of weeks. I have a few questions as I am putting together some parts.

    1) I was thinking of going with SCS Ray10 in 17" (17" x 8.5) with Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 285/70. Barring the issue of them currently being sold out, do you think there would be an issue with fitment. For obvious reasons I would not be looking to alter the suspension, but I wouldn't be opposed to a little bit of plastic trimming.

    2) I was thinking of getting a LEER canopy/shell (100XR or 100XQ) and down the road I would very likely be doing a rack (eg: Prinsu). Are there any special considerations that I should be aware of when ordering the canopy/shell? Do most racks mount directly to shell or do they incorporate the use of the "tracks" that the Thule systems would use.

    Thanks for the input.

Simply put... will 285s fit on my Pro Taco? ... yes they will ...
Probably can squeeze 33s in there too...

Will I have to chop and grind? Why yes you will... more than likely, probably and maybe assuredly.

Ah, I was thinking that since the Pro had a bit more lift (1") that may make a difference.

That is a topic of debate. They (Toyota Brochure) says it has more lift but there are Pro owners on the forum who have measured and compared to other trims and they sit the same. Aside from that, lift alone does not clear tires. Wheel back spacing/offset, alignment, and other variables play a role. Also every truck (even within the same trim line) varies ever so slightly from the next. There is no surefire answer to your question.

SCS Ray10 in 17" has -10mm offset. With the 285/70 (33") tire, you would be trimming away a good chunk of the fender flare plastic. With stock upper control arms, you can probably get away with not chopping the cab mount on the frame.

I have 285/75/16 on my pro which is a 33". No trimming necessary and no rub.

Looks too good to go with anything smaller!

If you kept the factory pro wheels 285's fit. Been done a few times by people on here.

Edit: you beat me to it!

In the super rare case that you're in full lock and hit a bump you get a very minor rub. It's probably happened 2 times in 4,000 miles. The tire his the thin plastic lining the back on the wheel well. Nothing that "fucked" anything
