Here are a few from a recent trip to Anza-Borrego




Then I got around to test fitting the @Pelfreybilt front bumper that was in the roll over to see if it's still straight or if a new one will be needed.




Those scuff marks are where it took a hit during the roll over. The hoops definitely helped reduce the amount of damage to the truck. Like a front roll bar, if you will. From what I recall prior to the wreck, this passenger side is pushed in more than it was before. Which would make sense since that's where it took a lot of the impact.


Here is the driver side. It sticks out more than the other side, but I think that's how it used to be prior to the roll over


I doesn't looked that tweaked to bother me so I'll just clean it up and see how it looks. If it's off a little, that's fine with me vs spending money on a whole new one. Also, After reading over @ChandlerDOOM thread where things got tweaked after some hard winch pulls, I think I'll end up reinforcing the front mounts later on. I'm sure all the hard winch pulls I've done didn't help things out either and could have something to do with things being off.

Right now it's mostly getting what I need to reinstall all the stuff I already have. Stuff like the BAMF shock towers, ATO shackle flip, cleaning and recoating the stuff I have and the replacement parts like the prinsu racks.

Most of the stuff cleaned up pretty well and just standing by to be reused. Need a new winch rope though. Those things are friggin expensive!

 

Glad you were able to reuse most of the expensive stuff. Besides winch line lol

 

Sad end to that truck man. Glad you're ok.... this build and Norths are what I based my truck on. Glad to see you're gonna keep going and build another truck !!!!

Yeah. Not much though. Got a bunch of stuff back from powder coating including the replacement front ORI strut top hats. Then had to do some grinding to fit the misalignment spacers to the top hats. Hope to get some of the suspension stuff installed soon.

It was really nice out there! It was only a day trip but still had a good time. Weather was nice and made for a good day of hiking and driving around. Can't really remember specific locations since the gf had a handle of the different spots, but I hope to go back and check out some of the off road trails.

 

I've been once and it was super fun. We are going with a bunch of stock jeeps so should be a fun time. I'll get to tow a lot... haha

There are a lot of trails in Anza that are super easy and some that aren't so whatever point your truck is at, you can find something. All are pretty fun.

 

I've always been sketched out taking stock tires out off roading. Have punctured/torn sidewalls before so that's been enough to deter me when I'm riding solo.

speaking of tires, does anyone have experience with the newer cooper discovery SST Pros or have suggestions on a good MT off road tire? I would prefer to get the MTRs again since they served me well and have been able to run them down to 8psi without issue, but they've gone up in price have limited availability.

 

I've heard good things about those coopers. I think there is a thread on them. I'll look.

I'm a big fan of my R/T's as a hybrid between A/T and Mud, but will probably go Nitto Ridge Grapplers and upgrade size when I need new tires.

Taking your stuff fit the theme of my budget build.

 

I run the STT Pro on our 4runner and have been blown away with them... Absolutely kick ass. And I've ran the MTR Kevlars before as well.

 

Only thing i've noticed with the STT pros (other than hearing they are a great tire) is that they run quite small. Here is my truck next to my friends. Both running 315/75/16 tires.. STT pro's versus MTR's. Its more noticeable in person..

 

How would you compare the two? I mostly do slower crawling than anything else. How low do you normally air down to?

I noticed the advertised diameter is 34.5 vs 34.8. Not much of a difference but seems to be enough to notice. The other tire I was considering was the Falken WildPeak MT

 

When mine were brand new mounted on the truck they measured 34 3/4", my friends brand new were 33 3/4"
