    stock, for now
I work with a union sheetmetal worker at my job...He's part time and all you guys are the same..Never get paid enough, not enough money in my pension..Boo fucking hoo.

Im a non union worker, I dont have a pension, NEVER get a raise, EVER...Healthcare is outrageous for me (i pay roughly $120 a month for medical and dental, JUST FOR MYSELF!), meds are even worse..And you complain about making your 60-70K a year.

Meanwhile Im making my measly pay chugging along, driving my 15 year old truck. Dont mean to offend anyone, but America has become such pussies it hurts my head to read/listen to this shit anymore.

Perhaps you should look into a union position somewhere. It is because of unions that people, like you sheetmetal friend, who did not choose the college route for a host of different reasons are allowed to have a piece of the American Dream.
I can agree that at times unions have caused financial hardship on both thier members and the company by only keeping the union leaders interests at the forefront. All that being said, I feel every union gets a bad stigma due to a few that have choked the industry (ie Auto).
You complain about unions and use your situation as proof as to why they are no good. You should demand more from your employer, they are most likely getting very rich off your labor.
Union jobs they pay well are not easy to get. Which is why they are coveted positions.
If a person goes through 4 years of college and 2 more for a Master's, are they any more enititled to a good paying job with good benifits than a person, like myself, who persued a career outside of college? Is it wrong to make 60k-70k and want to better our working wage? Would a college grad feel so much flack when they asked for a raise?
FYI, I never asked for more in my pensions. I am looking for no reduction in payments. Status Quo is fine by me. Never a good thing to go backwards.

It sounds to me as if you are jealous of your union friend. Perhaps he can get you into the union. Working for a company and helping it become profitable and never getting a raise is one point that sticks out to me as to why unions are needed. You really shouldn't bash them as nobody seems to bashing the non-union guys.

So you think Wall Street should hand out an avg bonus of ~$120,000? Silly college kids.

If your definition of entitlement is wanting something better for yourself or family, I guess your on to something.
I would only wish that others had the same opportunity to earn a better living. Instead, some appear to believe that we should all settle for something less.
Me personally, I like having a union to help me get something better. You keep what you have, just don't worry about me.

Good point. HOWEVER, Is it the UAW? OR, The bean counters that were running TMC.? The trucks arent falling apart due to lack of build quality, but rather software glitches, poor design, etc.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.

Neither, I feel you are not encompassing the entire manufacturing process. I am willing to bet that over 80% of the vehicle is subbed out for contract. How many parts on a Tacoma are truly made by Toyota? Granted the parts are manufactured to Toyota specifications but 100% inspection is not carried out on every part.

I agree. I was thinking that would fall under the "Bean counter" part I listed. I AM excited to see what direction Toyota goes now that Akio Toyoda is in charge now....
