Nice truck. That was my second choice. Does it drive as big as it looks? How does it drive size wise compared to the Taco? Is it as maneuverable?

Well the problems I had with my 2016 Taco are behind me. I would still welcome some competition. Right now there is nothing. Personally would not even test drive a Colorado. Frontier is ridiculously outdated. I too have high hopes for the Ranger but no plans of trading. Maybe some good stiff competition will adjust the thinking of Toyota Corporate. They seem to be too busy counting profits to meet with engineering about fixing the transmission issues. Been on here a long time and never seen so many disgruntled owners. I think I just got lucky. Said with crossed fingers.

Competition makes everything and everyone better. Maybe we will get some better choices but I'm still not going anywhere. I have the rear diff howling and hope to have a fix sooner than later. I think the Ranger is going to push Toyota to get better but I drove the GM trucks and much preferred the Tacoma. The GMs just look soft and with the problems I have had from my Yukon XL there was zero chance of me getting another GM product.

Great truck. You should remove that vinyl on the side. It makes me have an adverse reaction.

You fit 30 in?! your tetris skills must be far superior to mine as I can only fit 24 in my taco!

Two totally different machines though. One is an offroad toy and the other a workhorse.

You want a truck with engine why not get a Tundra?

Very nice truck and great choice, agree with the comment above about that being the best engine choice for that truck.

When I started looking, the FX4 and the Tacoma made it to the short list and it really just came down to personal needs and preferences. I end up having to park in parking garages at the airport or in the city and the Ford was restrictive due to height.

Some make the argument on resale value or the Toyota holding value. I absolutely agree that's true in the short run and if you lease or like to get a new vehicle every few years, and the data states the Toyota will reward you here. However, if you are the type who buys and then holds for longer periods such as 10-12 years I think the playing field levels a bit, and resale is less of a concern (and yes, this isn't 100% true because some cars become cult classics and defy time).

Some argue that reliability is a factor. While I can't say I am an expert in this category, I have a coworker who purchased an F150 Platinum and the fit and finish from the factory was outstanding. This, in fact, is what spurred me to look in that direction. I also have a close friend who purchased an F150 15 years ago and still drives it today, it's is great shape with 140,000+ miles. He's meticulous in how he cares for it. We live in the northeast and the salt, etc. has not seem to have an impact any more than most other vehicles.

So maybe a rambling way to say I bought the vehicle (actually still waiting for it to come in...) that fit my lifestyle but either was a superb choice and both are great products.

With under 12k miles on it you didn't drive it much. The biggest hit you took were on the wheels, lift kit, nerf steps and whatever aftermarket stuff you threw at it. MSRP on the truck was just over $35,000 and the Ford store will probably ask somewhere between $33,500 - $34,000. Gen2, 2-3 years old at our store are going for $29,000 - $31,000. Crazy, crazy resale value.
