Yep. 28.375" extended length center to center.

Brett was smart and got the welded rod ends, so that will definitely help him.

 

I can swap shafts for you if you want the welded ends to reduce the length. King also sells a -3/8 rod end so you only have to swap the rod end.

I'm gonna shoot for installing them as is, which will necessitate designing and fabbing some custom mounts. I already have some ideas that I'm gonna draw up, and I'd definitely like to run them by you if you don't mind.

 

BODY LIFT!!! - The Final Chapter

Pulled the rear bumper off and drilled new mounting holes to move it up as far as possible.

I could only go up about 3/4" from where it was before, so the bumper is about 1/4" down from the body compared to where it would be without the BL. Whatever.

What height bedrack is that? I saw there are a few different options, wanted to get an idea of where the 16'' would sit in relation of the cab!

I think I mentioned to you that I installed a 1" body lift years ago. It has been one of the best mods I've to the truck. Having that inch of extra space between the body and the frame makes working under the truck around the engine bay area way easier. It will also make things easier when you install your dual cases.

The negative stories you hear about body lifts is really more about the 3" ones. I would never install one of those, it really puts a lot of stress on the cab mounts and you have to modify so much stuff to make them work. It is not worth it.

With my 1" the only modification needed was the extension of the steering shaft and raising the bumpers' mounting location. But I was lazy and never raised the bumpers To be honest, the 1" gap did not bother me at all. Most people do not even notice the body lift is there when they first look at the truck. The 1" gap is more noticeable in the front bumper.

I did remember that you had run a 1" BL on your rig, and that was a big part of why I pulled the trigger on running the one on mine. I understand the issues with taller body lifts, and that was never the design intent on my truck. I'm not stacking a spacer lift on top of a 6" DB lift under a 3" BL and stretching out my 315s on 24x12 rims. But honestly, if someone wants to do that, they can go ahead. It's their truck and their money. Its not my thing, but who cares what I think!

I build my rig how I want to build it. And that means taking some inspiration from other guys even if I'm not copying them completely. Who wants a cookie cutter ride anyway, right? One of the absolute coolest thing about this community is seeing the different builds and philosophies. I can't even tell you how many things I've seen that have inspired me on my truck. And I'm almost certain that my truck won't ever be "done". It'll just evolve depending on my mindset at the time.

Deployment is going well man. Feeling very tired all the time now though haha. Going online and BSing on forums is one of the few things that help keep the mind distracted LOL.

It is always good to take ideas from others and apply them to one's rig.

Believe it or not...there comes at time in which your rig will be done. Most of the time we just keep adding things we don't really need haha; but eventually that bad habits stop as we get wiser and poorer

I still stand by what I have said many times. I wish I could have saved my money and done the SAS form the start. Or if somebody wants LT, or bad ass expeditionary rig, or whatever it is...they should really do it from the start. We all secretly know what we want.

There's really no need to keep building and rebuilding in stages. After you get your truck to an acceptable level that you like, I would advise you to stop until you are ready to go big

Your rigs are a case in point. I dig seeing them evolve and seeing the vision behind the two of them.
