It's amazing that they'd lease a vehicle like that. I could never have a lease because I'd treat it like a rental car.

What kills me about a lease is that let's say you're paying $259 a month, with $3k down. If you've got a 24 month lease, you're paying the equivalent of a $385 car payment, you're limited to 1k miles a month, and when you're done you just give it back. No equity, nothing. If it's a 36 month lease, the situation is the same, but you're paying the equivalent of $342 a month. Meanwhile, if you'd bought a car, you'd have something to show for it besides a pile of receipts. :notsure:

I used to think about it this way as well, but if done right, there is some equity at the end.

My thoughts on leasing was that if a salesperson was pushing me towards it, then there's nothing in it for me. Friend of mine is leasing a 2016 taco for 36 months, no money down and 36k mileage limit. He has to pay the insurance and registration every year for something he can't even do the smallest mod to. Hates his grill but won't even plasti-dip it because what might happen when he turns it back in.

I understand that it can help your credit, but unless you buy the car you've been leasing, or roll over into another lease, what sort of equity do you get when you turn it in?

first, I have never leased, probably never will.

Certain vehicles hold thier value or in demand, when you turn it in its worth more than the residual value and if done correctly you can walk out with a check.

I'm leasing my truck right now, but have been planning on buying it since the beginning. We had just bought our house and I wanted to keep my payments down for a little since we had a ton of cash outflow at the time.

Not that I would lease but itdoes work for some. Credit can be an issue that makes buying not an option.

My parents lease a CR-V. My mother does 3-4k miles a year and wanted AWD to get her to dialysis
