Couldn't even slice them. I basically pulled them apart.

I have a 9lb one sitting in the fridge for tomorrow. Thawed it over night and will get it on the smoker tomorrow also. Just going the S&P route on this one. I don't know why I hang around this place. I'm not hungry until I start reading this thread, then by the time I'm caught up my mouth is watering and my stomach is grumbling.

On the next batch, try skipping the foil. I think it gives a way better texture. I never foil ribs.

I'm one of those who likes some bite to my ribs, should have a little chew. Some people love it just falling off the bone. :)

I like that, I have thought about trying to find one to fit the pit I built last year. Right now I can't even find a cover for it to stop the ash from floating up. Found a local guy who makes the pieces from remnant granite and I thought it looked awesome so bought it and a bunch of high temp cement and built this one.

Nice work :) Wife had been wanting one and she kept looking at the ones from HD and stuff. I happened to notice this guy on CL while searching for something and say his prices where in line with the HD prices. I was like many that looks cool, so I contacted him about it and worked out a deal. Ended up being cheaper than the kits from HD and I think it's way more unique. I almost wish it was smaller so I could fine grates and covers to fit it at the store lol.

Agreed. I was annoyed at the fall apart ribs. But is what it is. Taste was good.

We are doing the same at my friends house this year. Also doing a built in kitchen for the new grill he got and the smoker. Will be a nice covered area for them. He gets a lot of supplies off like CL and stuff and then we redo it to fit the needs lol. As you said comes out way cheaper and just as nice.

I have to build a deck out back here this year also. If I don't the wife may kill me.

That's my hope. I need to get the design finalized and up to the city so that I can get the permit. Want to try and get it done in the next month or two and I have no idea how long the permit portion is going to take. Hate having to do the permits but not worth getting popped for especially when there is a lot of work going on around me (new construction) and I know the inspectors are around.

Yeah those packages are a ripoff... I found one i liked the look of, used the exact same blocks purchased individually and made it a lot larger, and cost me around $200 less in the end.

I just bought and additional grate at Lowes and used bolts, washers and nuts to space it. Works perfect on my large bge. For the most part now i just leave the top nuts off and place the top grate on top of the washers, its plenty sturdy and easy to remove while cooking to give more access to the bottom

Its absolutely never ending. If you do the pea gravel like I did, make sure you put a few layers of landscape fabric or cardboard down underneath first. I only did one layer and i have some weeds that like to come through now, I have to go through and pick them every month or so even though i spray it with ground clear.

I'm working on another low retaining wall that runs about 40 feet to create a raised bed in the back now. I said, sure, i can do that in a day... that was 2 weeks ago and i don't even have the first row leveled and set yet, haha.
