Any reason to wait for 2018 models to hit dealerships over buying 2017 now?

No worries. That's what were here for....well, except for Unchained of course.....:bananadance:Jk Unchained.:canada: You've always been very helpful with me.

MGMTaco17 as with all forums the search feature here is.....well, it sucks. Your best best is to Google your question with + Tacomaworld at the end of your query. Like this:

    will 275 rub on a 3rd gen tacoma with a 2" lift + Tacomaworld

    Which yielded this:

YEP!! Lol if I cant find it in the advanced search bar, then I google it. Great idea and works great. It also helps talking to people who have a similar set up to what im looking for. Lot of people running the KO2s, which are super nice. Thanks again LUCHIN

No worries brother. Nice truck btw, I like the MGM. Not sure what colour my truck will be but MGM and Silver are high on the list. Is your truck an auto or manual?

Thanks man. Ya I knew I wanted mgm for the longest time, was thinking silver for a little and even white. Really happy I chose mag grey though.. 2wd Auto. I wanted 4x4, but for my needs it wasn't worth the extra 3k. I don't plan on doing heavy offroading with my new truck, small dirt trails is the only thing it will see when camping etc. Later after warranty is up my plan is to lock the rear end with an ARB. That's future plans though.

I'm not trying to argue, as this is a legitimate question. Is this assuming stock wheels? I'm jumping from a 2010 to a 2017, but on my 2010 TRD OR DCSB (did I do that right?) I run 285/70/17 with no cab chop (I did trim the factory bumper before I put the ARB bumper on) and zero clearance issues with 2.5" OME lift and just a little extra offset on the wheels. Are the gen 3's slightly different in the wheel wells causing a little more rubbing with larger tires?

I'm also interested in the 2018 and was planning to wait, but it doesn't seem like there is going to be much of anything changed.

I miss spoke, I'm told the 3rd Gen TRD PRO does not need a cab mount chop (factory lift) and I guess the same would apply to a lifted 3rd Gen TRD Sport and OR.

No, not assuming stock wheels. Planning on getting the trd pro 4 runner wheels SEMA or FN wheels pro. So it does have an offset. I'm using this build as an example, one because he is using 285/70/17 BFG KO2's on 17" SCS Ray10's (which have a bigger offset I believe), and because its one of my favorite builds @obz... He had to do a CMC on 33s with that set up. So not sure if it comes down to the offset on some wheels to rub with 33s or not.

You're right and offset/backspacing are going to make all the difference. A UCA will also help clear the cab mount (by assisting with your caster), but if you're going to run 285's it's always good to be prepared to do the CMC... that was my mistake. My assumption (and yes it was wrong) was that I could clear the 285's, but when I cranked that wheel those tires stuffed RIGHT up into that cab mount... to the point that that truck couldn't move. Many do a CMC just assuming they'll need to when maybe they don't. I've seen people post that they are running 285's and clear on stock wheels, but I've also read that people can't... so who knows for sure... That said, if you go into it assuming you will chop the cab, and you don't need to, you'll be far happier than assuming you won't and then you end up having to do it.

Really good point. Thanks for the info. Guess we wont know what exact offset/lift will clear 285s without CMC... I have the icon billet UCAs ready to be installed so I am good with that. Comes down to size lift an offset now I believe

If you buy a 2018 you can start a thread called "2018 Lifted pics" and "2018 _your_color_here_ pics thread!". And other exciting adventures such as "What are the largest tires that will fit on a 2018?" thread. The '17 guys did it.

Yes. More fixes to the issues will be applied to the newer model.
