Got the day off so I figured I'd put this fan clutch on. There are four bolts holding it on. I've been cranking on those !@%ing things with my 12mm wrench and all I can manage to do is turn the whole mechanism. Damn things won't budge.

If you're going to go to all the trouble to relocate hangers for longer leaf springs, may as well go whole hog and get Chevy 63's. Same amount of work, the springs are cheaper, and they'll handle more weight/flex better than Tacoma springs. Plus if you do them right you can probably use those 14" shocks, although you'll still need to go through the bed with them.

Get a longer wrench on there and give the end of the wrench a nice wack with a small sledge hammer. Its akward but the impact of the hammer will get them lose

With a longer spring still over the axle, you would have even less uptravel than the OEM springs. Unless you let them go way the hell negative.

Not all travel is created equal. I'd only do the 63s if all I did was crawling.

Man, keep that till it dies and I'm sure you could get a good amount selling it to a dealership if it ends up with 400000+ miles

I think what I'm going to do is relocate my spring hangers and get the Deaver J59 pack and fit those 14's. You may say they won't fit but I'll get em to work.

You can get them to work through your bed, but with the j59 pack it's pointless cause you don't need to go through your bed for that pack... :notsure::popcorn:

its not that they won't fit. Its that if you want them to fit correctly..you'll end up through the bed. At which point..might as well just do it right the first time and do a real SUA setup with a bed cage and 16s.

Or you'll end up going through the bed anyways with the J59 pack..but you'll never use 14''. Those will never go past 11''. If you're lucky.

They won't fit under the bed.

We aren't trying to make you prove us wrong..we are trying to save you a LOT of work and effort and then having to redo the whole thing and waste more time and money.

I realize you ordered them custom probably and waited weeks to get them...but you should have done a bit more research before buying 14s. 10'' shocks barely fit mounted vertically to the axle as it is. Plus the springs don't put out more travel then 10'' anyways usually.

The good news is you can easily sell the 14s and get the right shock.

10'' kings with the J59s relocated would be an excellent combo with the front setup. 12'' short bodies custom made with over the top caps and welded rod ends might be good too.

or ignore us and do whatever. Which im sure is what you'll end up doing. Your truck, your money, your time. Do with it as you please

Yeah they are 16s. Fit with a spacer cause the backspacing on them is 5.5" same bolt pattern and all that except for the hub diameter is off by 6mm so you have to mod them.

So the bottom half of my fan shroud is nowhere to be found. Previous owner or their mechanic may have forgot to replace it? Any reason for me to pay money to replace this lower piece?

    IMG_3620.jpg

Also, for you shade tree and actual mechanics who want a good laugh at a newb I was removing this shroud and the upper radiator hose was in the way. Thought to myself, well I'll just remove this and reattach it. Yeah, there's a puddle in the driveway.

I use a large pair of channel locks. Grab in between the 2 pulleys.

It has to be knipex brand of channel locks. The true channel lock brand has are too wide.

Before anyone asks, yes, I know these tools are actually water pump pliers.

Upper not as crucial as lower, so you'll likely be fine with the 'Moog' (reboxed 555 Japanese brand) upper.

I am pretty sure you have the complete shroud. I will have to take another look tonight, but think the bottom on my '92 is just like your picture.
