I doing a swap 2002 prerunner doublecab 3rz 2wd auto to manual 4x4 with w59 trans and manual hubs. I have all the parts except driveshaft. I know that I can have one custom made or a spacer but it looks like some members have found front driveshafts front portions that will work with the existing rear driveshaft rear portion. If anyone has done this specific swap could they tell me what the length of this rear driveshaft front portion and what year eng double or ext cab and if it is auto or manual.

Not sure if I'll be any help... b cause I'm only familiar with the 5Vz..

But on those models, year and xtra cab vs dbl cab didn't matter. Only manual vs auto were different lengths for the front section. From flange to flange manuals are 31-1/4" and automatics were 30-1/4".

Did they make 3rz 4X4 double cabs? I've never seen one.

No don't think they made 3rz 4x4 doublecabs. Gearing is going to be key. I feel like my 3rz with 4:56 gears is faster than my old 4runner 5vze 4x4 5sp.

FWIW - there is a rear driveshaft length issue between the 2.7's and the 3.4's with the automatic transmissions. About 2"...
The front portion of the rear driveshaft I had required shortening. I didn't go looking for a unit of the 'correct' length.
My front driveshaft required customizing also - All I can figure is the 2.7 block sits further back than the 3.4. I also had to customize the J-shifter lever to enter the cab in the correct location (cut and weld)...

Did you just have to cut and weld the j- shifter shaft or the center console sheet metal do you have any pics.

Yes, cut near the base. Used the opportunity to compensate for the 1" body lift and moved the shift lever forward. Picture a dog-leg. /\/ but a bit flatter. I don't believe any pictures exist...

There are plenty of 3RZ DC's in the San Diego area, all with the auto trans that I've seen.
