Salary is a nasty mistress. I've worked like five days in the last two months in my actual salaried job. My wife on the other hand has worked me like a rented mule getting the campground in shape for summer in the meantime. Life is full of trade offs...

Thankfully I'll always be hourly. Some days I do 8 some days it's 12. I can't think of a salary job I would be down forever unless I was like an ceo of a successful company ha.

It all evens out in the end, while I may have worked like 12 hours in the last two months, I'll work the equivalent of 96 hours a week for all of September and October. I'm getting paid now for the work I'll do then, I guess it's all perspective.

I fought to stay hourly. If I am in the field I get a measly bonus compared to what it should be but at least its something. I havent had a day off in 3 weeks so i figured working from home would give me a partial break.. i was wrong lol.

Yeah. Just this next week or so. Usually under 40 hours a week easily. And my boss is chill and always gives me days off after weeks like this where is 7 14s in a row. how i got to go to Moab for a week last time.

Eh i mean, if i was staying here full time, id have basically all summer off mostly. And still have a check come in no matter what..

    Pros and cons..

Even though salary don't you still have to be accountable for hours and submit time per project?

    I don't.

I do log my hours for my own personal benefit using Toggl(sweet app by the way, also free). That way i know im not working too much on weeks i don't need too. Or i can try and balance my hours on show weeks by only doing 2-4 hours on monday-tuesday but 10s on thursday-friday or whatever.

    Im gonna download that.

Im slowly gathering some info to make a case to my boss for a raise. I just got one, but its flat out not enough for living here in Denver, especially for the amount of work I am doing.

It is a great app, online interface is great too. You can set it up so projects can be like..office work, or field work, or whatever. It also prints up or sends great PDF graphics and reports to people.

    Super cool.

My old boss got me on it. He paid for it though and we all had access to his projects so he could see how many hours we were logging on each project. Pretty cool. How he paid us. Like clocking in.

    All from our phones.

I just do it to see how much im working. haha its eye opening. I haven't gotten to the point where i do it for wrenching projects..but could.

Really? Dang. Good movie ! (Wtrwrld)

I only asked about submitting time because when I workrd salary I still had to do time sheets like I was hourly. I've been hourly for the last few years now.
