    Hey all,

I hate to make my first thread here asking for shit, but desperate times........

Quick history: I currently have a Jeep Rubicon (hold on, hold on) that I've agreed to terms with a buyer on and I'm looking to replace it with a GEN 2 DCSB Manual trans which is pretty difficult to find. Back in the day I had a GEN 1 that was bought back by Toyota because of the frame so I'm very wary of anything coming from areas where they salt the roads.

Well, I'm away for "business" right now so I'm trusting my brother to check one out for me. It's up in the northeast where I know for a fact they use salt, but the frame looks to be in good condition (replaced? I can't tell, but if it was it's not in the carfax).

Without further ado, please help me decide if this is a good deal/the frame is good.
    2006 DCSB
    M/T
    117k
    1 Owner, 12 service records

    Asking $15,500.

That frame looks extremely clean for 117k in the rust belt.

In the 3rd pic there is a sticker on the frame behind the shock. If that is still pretty 'fresh', I'd wager it was a replacement frame, or the truck lived in the south most of it's life, or it was parked in the winter.

From what you show, the frame looks fine. Move on to the other areas of inspection. Most of which are not Toyota specific, but what you'd check on any used vehicle.

I'm clueless on pricing as it varies so much regionally.

PS, carfax is only as good as what folks input. If something shows up, it's probably accurate. But you'll never know if something is missing.

Shitty thing is it looks like they reused the hardware and fasteners. I mean damn, wouldn't the frame swap go smoother if they just replaced the damn hardware while they were at it too. Can't be easy trying to reuse a bunch of rusted over and swollen fasteners.

I was thinking it had been replaced (fresh frame, rusty hardware in some places), but it's not in the CARFAX which I found weird. Been in the northeast it's entire life.

Get a better shot of the 3rd picture. The part number on it will tell if the frames been done.

trucks with fresh frames can be solid buys IMHO
just drives me nuts when people don't shoot water in that little cup that holds all the sand salt (the bump stop striker)

Definitely a new frame. Check the sticker under the drivers door, it should say made in Mexico. For a 2006, the original frame would have been made in Cali.

Get it, that's a fair price, and a truck with a new lease on life. Probably has some body rust if it got a new frame, but you can handle that.

I bought an identical truck earlier this month (new frame 100k miles) in MA, paid $15291. There were a line of folks behind me if I didn't sign for it.

If you don't get it someone else will today.

My truck has that sticker with a big F on it. Only 60k on my truck though.
