So these joints been leaking for some time. What I found was that the grease liquified and even though there is grease there it's all thinned out. Can't say thin out grease is better then thick grease but wouldn't hurt to add fresh grease. Still a peace of mind. Cvj did give me some free clamps. Glad I bought their cv's

I'm going to have to look at a bed cage change here soon. Provisions for lights will be included.

Since the forum is a little slow, let's stir things up a bit.. Based on reading, the st maxx seem to be a popular tire.

My duratracs have been great, but open to options if i decide to get a new set before the trip. Mine have a good amount of life left.... But it wouldn't be a bad idea to have brand new ones before such a journey.

I'm thinking of finding a stock (cheap) 17" wheel to replace the 16s that I've discovered have less tire size options in the middle of nowhere. When i blew out the tire in Utah, they had a ton of 17" used tire options for a temporary spare vs only the stock size in 16. Maybe go with something slightly taller and skinnier than the 265/75/16s i have now.

What stock 17s have a good offset and fit? Lots of sport wheels out there... Not a fan of the looks though. Turd gen wheels must be forged from some rare Earth element since they are listed for more than a set of Volks...

You can get 235/85r16 just about anywhere used. Might be a good option for a truck that is staying stockish but going everywhere.

I might have 5 2017 TRD off road 4runner wheel to part with......

Interested to hear more on the tires as well. I do like my KO2's but I'm always open to other options. For 17" wheels, the TRD Pro's look nice and are an OEM wheel. Can get them fairly cheap on ebay too usually.

So glad I re-greased the cv's the driver side was so thinned out. Check your cv's the grease doesn't last forever!

I'm liking the 235/85/16 idea... same size as mine now, just skinnier. And save money on wheels! Perfect.

Now.. what tire. A lot of mileage but still want durability offroad.

I'm also wondering about buying the balancing beads and just running those.

No bender, I have thought about picking one up. I'll have to check the used market.

High mileage and durable. BFG KM2, built on the Michelin casing is a well rounded tire. Kinda hard rubber that limits wet/ice traction but gives it the life.

My Coopers have great all around traction but tire life is going to come in under 25k miles compared the 50k miles of a BFG.

Duratracs are decent tires with good life. Weaker in the sidewall then the BFG and Cooper.

I don't like the beads because they still have balance issues at times, then they go away, then they come back at a different speeds.

Sorry, meant to say that I wanted something that would not suck for the mileage. The total mileage life of the tire is not high on my list. On/offroad ride and capability in all conditions are more what I am looking for. Aka not something like a mud tire for driving a ton of miles.

And I've heard a lot about sidewall issues. *knock on wood... mine have been tested pretty thoroughly without incident. I'd be willing to say its more driver issue than a tire issue. My one tire that ripped... was a driver issue and I doubt anything short of a kevlar sidewall or just a massive sidewall would've survived.
