Well Im not sure how you guys lived in college, but man there were times that I lived a pretty tight budget of like $60/week to get things done besides rent. Power of walking to school helped, but when you start making decent coin, you don't forget what the minimums need to be. I don't have a family or anything, so I got no problem taking a hit on money if the life at the end of the day is more fruitful. I work in a design firm, and man it is depressing listening to these fat fucks talk about their houses or retirement. Then they want to know about my biking because wow it sounds so cool...I guess it comes with the DH attitude, but I have a hard time feeling sorry for guys who have excuses and cant "sack up." I would love to get back into part design, as besides biking is what led me to be a mech. Designing plumbing systems and shit is just about as low speed as it gets.

Work to live, or live to work. There are precious few people who get to do what they actually love in life.

I did the high speed/low drag thing and even that got to be tedious. Going diving? Great, going to have to fuel up the boats, jam jugs, clean all the dive gear etc..

Doing demo? Great, going to have to go to the mags, draw the bang, go to the range, hopefully use it all or here we go; back to the mags.

It's just life, you've got to do your best to survive, and take advantage of the opportunities that you're able to. Somewhere on this planet is a person far more capable and driven than you or me, with zero opportunity.

In a nutshell; look at the bright side of life.

Oh I got no problem looking on the brighter side, just saying I can justify the paycut for being in the "scene" vs making do with everything else by making pay the ultimate priority. Shit I wouldn't be in this thread if I was letting life pass me by.

Yeah I hope I didn't come off in a way I didn't intend, I just used to share some of the...angst? that you conveyed in that post. I railed against the fat people relentlessly, and then came to the conclusion that it didn't make a difference for me.

I've also gotten really good at tuning out people who talk about shit I just don't care about! :lalala:

I wish I had made those adjustments (and many others) at an earlier age.

Its all good man, I totally understood where you where coming from. I agree almost ANY profession whether high speed or not can get dull and political in a negative fashion at times, as some simply need their job to have an identity. Others are happy and complacent with what they do, but it doesn't necessarily define them.

Dynatrac ProRock 60 Rear Axle, that is important enough.
Did the tubeless setup yesterday on the rear wheel as it had a flat from last Monday's session... got it to seal two punctures in the side wall and left it at 30psi overnight. Checked this morning and it lost a pretty good amount of air. Not enough to be fully flat, but enough to tell.

It also dropped about 30 degrees overnight.

Not sure if I want to inflate it again with the ARB compressor and see if it holds or take it to the bike shop and have them just go ahead and do the front and rear for $70 and put better tires on it besides the Bontrager XR2s it has.

Try to air it up again and then shake the crap out of the tire to get the sealant all around the tire

You must've convinced her to let you get a new Taco, why not a bike?

Hey guys. Trying to pick a few brains here. Anyone want to give me insight on any real benefit of getting a fork mounted bike rack, over a fully assembled bike rack?

Essentially, I was rear ended just a couple weeks ago with my Kuat Sherpa hitch bike rack on the back. Awesome rack, set the bike it, lock it down, sturdy as hell over the last couple years. However I don't really want to go back to a hitch rack. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go over the tonneau cover rack. Looking at the Kuat Trio, which mounts to the forks, and looking at the Yakima FrontLoader, which mounts a complete bike.

I've spent the last couple years with the Sherpa and never having to take the front wheel off of my roadie (quick release) or MTB (15mm thru axel), so I'm use to that, but if there is significant benefit to mounting to the actual forks, then I may go that direction.

    Any info is appreciated!

I like fork mount as it provides a lower profile, I can actually drive into my garage with them on the bedcover, the cab stops a lot of the bugs (though I do use a bike bra for longer distances), Honestly it takes me all of 15 seconds to take off my roadie wheel.. 30 to take off my 20mm thru axle on my Mt bike.. that little bit of time doesn't hurt me none.

Yeah living in college was quite different than living now...I lived on a tight budget and also didnt go on as many weekend trips. I'm pretty lucky with the job I have now and with how laid back it is. If I want to leave early on Friday to go biking its no big deal, I put in my 40 hours a week and if I have to work late one day I leave early the next. I also didnt have to pay for student loans when I was in college, maybe my mistake for not paying for them during school but I still have enough time/money now to go biking somewhere almost every weekend. Even if that means I stay in a tent or sleep in the truck to avoid paying for hotels. I would love to stay at the job I am now but the 4-8 hour trips on the weekend are getting old.

Oh yea man I hear you on that. What saves me at my job is my boss is a rider as well. He doesn't do DH although I have offered up a bike to ride and all that. But he respects the need and encourages me to get out there when I can. To be honest, he is kind of like a second father to me with things which is def refreshing and makes it hard to want to leave because of his presence. With that being said, every year Im rotting on the east over the west, is a year I wont get back. I have been out here way too long...
