Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Not a bad price, but not a great proce either.

I would suggest driving a 2nd gen 6spd before buying, the transmission and feel/characterisitics of driving the 2nd gen manual are not the same as a 1st gen.

And its a base model, not that thats bad. But you should be able to find either a better price or one with more options for the same.

I would say 12k is a pretty great price 12-14k is a good price and over 16 would be a walk away price.

Be sure to check the title, if the frame has been replaced in many states that seriously affects tbe value.

I would say it looks to be origional frame and well kept.

Op you may want to seriously consider a third gen (2016 or 2017). Toyota really did a great job with the interiors on these new trucks. Id steer clear of a second gen, they are plagued by rusty frames.

Maybe the OP prefers a 2nd gen, so not to be stranded on the road from a 3rd gen:

Or he could keep $20k+ in his pocket and buy the truck he wants. I definitely wouldnt buy a 3gen. I don't care for the styling and the price tag is just not justifiable for what it is and what it's capable of.

So although it doesn't say so on the Carfax the frame was replaced as the sticker on it says produced in Mexico. It was a 1 owner truck who had clearly taken care of it and had all the services done at a Toyota dealership (to include the leaf TSB). I wound up getting it for 15k including all dealership fees. More to follow in a couple weeks when I can actually get my hands on it and start fucking with things but I'm excited to have a Taco again. Thanks for all the help gentlemen.image.jpg

FWIW - my 2007 frame looked pretty damn good - similarly to the photos after 9 years. However, they found a soft spot on the inside of the frame rail under the drivers door. They poked a 3" hole thru it and failed me. So....don't judge by how the frame looks like on the outside.

The picture of the rear diff & suspension....Looks like it was painted or they applied that frame coating.

The only way you're gonna truly know - contact any dealership. They should be able to tell you what was done and when. DEMAND that especially before you buy it.

Another thing....The frame replacement will NEVER show up on a Carfax report. It's a repair.....not any different than fixing your suspension or rotating your tires. There are no insurance companies involved.

Carfax is only accurate if the shop that does the work reports it.

It's actually a pretty big scam and shouldn't be trusted.

Oh I agree with that. I think a frame replacement is a bit more serious than an oil change so if an oil change is listed I think it's reasonable to assume a frame replacement should/could also be listed.

Per Fitz235, the frame states made in Mexico and that apparently means it has indeed been replaced.image.jpg

Sounds like a pretty decent deal. Congrats!

My 2013 was made in mexico, and was factory. They had 2 plants running them i am not sure what years were there. I do know there is identifier in the VIN that says if your truck was a mexico built taco

According to the internet (Fitz235) the original frame in 2006 would have been made in Cali. I can't attest to that, but it makes sense since this truck has spent its entire life in MA and has almost no surface rust and really nice intact stickers.

FWIW, last year, I paid $16000 for a 2008 ACLB TRD Offroad 4x4, w/ 6-speed manual and V6, 16,010 original miles and had been garaged its whole life in central California and has not a spot of rust, is virtually a new car except its 8 years old. Showed very little signs of ever having been offroaded, either, I've already put another 8000 on it, about 500 of which was dirt roads so that shine is gone :)
