Hey guys, has anyone felt a sensation like shifting to a higher gear in your truck when coasting?

Like instead of engine braking? I find this engine shit for engine braking. I think a computer steps in and fucks everything up.

yeah, I feel the engine braking and then a few seconds later the effect stops and the truck speeds up.

Is this a low rpm like 1500 or less? If so that is the engine feeding gas again after cutting off fuel.

    Drop a couple gears.

Yes. It is somewhere around 1300 rpms. There was some discussion on it 40 or 60 or100 pages back. I feel it when in 4lo trying to creep down steep shit. It is annoying. I forget what causes it but the consensus was that it's normal.

My women prefer Buckaroo ties in the bedroom. Aka: silk wildrags. Look them up. Real men in my part of the world wear silk scarves.

You are driving a manual, downshift as needed.

What about when I am in 4lo 1st gear. Descending a slope steep enough to make my asshole pucker, trying to go as slow as possible to keep the truck from running away? What gear do you recommend I downshift too?

If you really want total control then shut off the motor.

In this situation this unexpected pulse of fuel makes it dangerous. The first time it happened to me I thought the tranny jumped into neutral. Scared the shit out of me as it was the first time I had ever experienced this is a manual truck.

 ok. Care to elaborate. Wouldn't the truck just sit there. Or if steep enough just slide uncontrollably?

Try it, basically the same is before except that at 1300 it won't fire up the engine again. Above 1300 it wasn't "running" anyways.

Engine is still spinning, just no fuel.

Hmmm...still not sure if serious.. I will try. Biggest downfall I see is no power steering or brakes. Those are two big downfalls.

You still have brakes, just need to push harder, and how much steering are you doing, again just need a little more strength.
