I wanted to grease up my drive shaft zerks. So I went to AutoZone and bought a grease gun and tube of grease.

I cant seem to get grease out of the gun.... I've been pumping for the last 10 mins and nothing comes out.

Both sides of the grease tube is removed. I inserted it in the right direction. The end with a lip, is up on top.

The only thing I'm not so sure about is, if the plunger handle is suppose to compress all the way to the base of the tube body.

My plunger handle is in the closed position like this pic, with the tube of grease inside it.

Did you twist open the nozzle at the end of the hose?

did you apply pressure from that silver thingy at the bottom. i think you gotta put the tub in, push up on that silver T at the bottom to get there to be some pressure then squeeze

The plunger on my gun is spring loaded, I pull it out all the way, insert the tube of grease, screw the head back on the gun and release the spring so the plunger applies pressure to the grease in the tube, once you start squeezing the handle the grease starts to flow.

I remember when I first loaded my grease gun, I had to unscrew a "bleeder nut" on the lever end of the gun to release the air, before I could pump grease out of the hose. If you do the same, be aware that grease will pour out, as it's under pressure from the spring inside the cartridge housing.

In the 1st picture it shows a button, that's to release the air. But the second picture doesn't show it. So which do you have?

The plunger should be all the way out with a new tube of grease. It gradually closes in when the grease is being used.

    1. Unscrew the head of the grease gun from the barrel by twisting it counterclockwise.
    2. Pull out on the spring-loaded rod handle at the bottom of the gun and lock the notch in the rod into the detent at the base of the barrel.
    3. Remove the bottom end cap from the new cartridge and push the cartridge completely into the barrel, open end down. Use the pull tab to remove the top seal from the grease cartridge.
    4. Screw the head onto the barrel loosely. Release the rod handle from the bottom of the barrel and push on it lightly to remove trapped air.
    5. Finish tightening the grease gun head on the barrel. Press the bleeder valve on the head to release any remaining air.
    6. Depress the lever repeatedly until the grease flows out of the hose or coupler, fitting smoothly.

The button should release the trapped air. You got to play with them sometimes. Try holding it upright, push the button, release, pump, repeat. They are a pain.

The button is on the top, of the grease gun, sticking up with the little spring around it. That is the air bleeder. FYI :D

I think I got a pump with bad screw threading. I cant screw the pump down all the way with the grease tube inside.

If I remove the grease tube, the pump will screw all the way down and secure.

With the grease tube, the pump is about 2MM out of position and and loose.....

lol yes, both ends of the tube of grease is exposed.

Hell, I might just scoop the grease out of the tube and pack it inside the grease gun....
But hell, I paid $30 for this gun, I want it to work the way it's suppose to. :(
