Yeah, in my 2010 DCLB. At first I was on just the TSB (4 leaf pack) springs with Ride Rite Air Bags, then upgraded to Dakar's with AAL. It handled it alright but still had a lot of sway. The brakes are really taxed at that weight. I upgraded the front discs/pads and did SS Lines which helped a lot. I did have dual batteries, 125W solar, and 20+ gallons of water. Plus you figure full tank of fuel, food, beverages, ice, clothes. I had it weighed when I registered in CA and I was sitting at 6300 and that didn't have all our gear in it.

That's awesome! The second one actually looks like it might have a camper or tent roof?

Hey if you really want to see the gamut of these you need to attend the overland expo. Then you and your crew can actually climb in and out of all the options. See what works and talk to folks.

There is a West and an East Expo. Both have lots of info on this type of out doors fun. Folks come from around the world to these two events.

    Thank you so much

I have a RTT and shell on my 17 Pro and a shell on my 01 double cab

On my 01 I want to get something like you thus I was curious of the sleeping area and if one can sit up in the bed or not as we get claustrophobic easily

    Appreciate the pics

Ok I will put a few of those on here when I get the chance I will fold out both beds and find a volunteer to sit on the top bed.

The awning was out of stock when I picked up the camper in Cali in 2007 and they offered to ship it to me and pay for the install at a local RV center. They knew when I would come out there for pick up and dropped the ball on the awning. So it was about a month that I did not have it. Really I built this one up knowing what I wanted as far as add on's. I have used every thing. Probably the only change would be a 20lbs propane tank to a 10lbs tank as I still have 1/2 the original tank. No fridge as I was not happy with there weight and do 90% of my cooking outside. pain in the ass on any rig going in and out of it with food. I use the good old ice chest. Most my trips stay in range of an ice supply and freezing things prior to trip helps. Its idea is to get you out doors. So I keep it easy and look at it as a hard sided tent to camp in. Mostly just sleep in it. I can put the list of upgrades I put on it here if you like??

Thanks for the pics and details. No need to put the upgrade full list, that gives me a good idea. Basically the exact setup I'm looking for. Good sleeping quarters for a small family but not an RV substitute. The most problems I have with keeping things cool are week-long climbing trips but even then we've found a bunch of ice in the Rtic keeps for that long even in hot temps. Glad to know you don't recommend the fridge, that's one we were on the fence about.
Thanks again for all the input!

Hah! Just doing a little reminiscing...looking at our old pics...and came across this on the Google. Seems this is one of the most camped/photo'd spots in Mexico!

They sell very quick so if you find one have the cash ready, or it will be sold to someone more prepared. Avoid the older Colorado made 4WC’s if possible they always require more money/work/parts.
Both manufacturers are now in CA
    Four Wheel Campers
    All Terrain Campers
I have an Eagle shell and love it, but if I bought another it would have to be the flatbed model without a doubt. They are offered by both companies and expensive.
