Maint. Required light

The last 2 times I've started my truck, the maint. req. light comes on for a second, then off, then back on for a second then off, then on then off and stays off. I just turned 4500 miles yesterday. Is it warning me I'm coming up on 5000 miles and need regular maintenance done? I just had the oil changed about 1500 miles ago. Or is this another Toyota problem?

 

Reset it, they probably didn't do it when they did the oil change.

check and make sure your gas cap is on tight.

this should help. you should have reset it after you change the oil. The computer just tells the light to come on at a certain time. hope it helps

 

The manual was my next stop. I figured I would get a better answer here.

 

The dealership did the oil change. I thought maybe they would have done that. Silly me!

Turn the gauge to ODO and turn the key to the "Off" position, hold the button down for like 10 long seconds then turn the key to the "On" position while continuing to hold it. It will go off after a few seconds.

It would probably be easier if you just change you oil at 5,000 miles, switch over to synthetic oil. Then it is just easy to remember to change your oil at 10,15,20,25 etc. And that is when the maintenance light comes in handy.

What good is the site and the manual when you are so lazy you can't be bothered to read either and insted just ask someone else to do the work for you....

See...That argument cuts both ways. I don't mind pointing you in the right direction- but get asked the same simple question over and over again and see how long you have a nice patient response.

Sorry, but that's an "RTFM" answer. Now I'll go away and not click on any subject that has come up roughly one bazillion times before. Yes, I'm just being an ass, but I think it's a valid reason to BE an ass. I'm just one of those people that read my manual. It answers many questions....
