there is a small plug on the center bar for a 12v cord. Looks fairly generic, just a DC round plug. The cable is about 10' long to run to a 12v cig plug on the truck. I wired a plug into my bed years ago for my fridge. But i put the fridge in the cab now for big trips so it works perfect for the tent. The wire just runs out the flap below the windows where the tent splits.

We don't really use it to charge our phones honestly. Just use the car chargers for that usually as we don't really pay attention to our phones much while on the trip and only use them as an alarm in the morning. The in tent light though is AWESOME. Which i know is a feature easily added to a normal tent. But this one that comes with it is freaking bright and it's always nice to have the switch and wiring intergrated so cleanly.

Thanks for the info! I agree, easy to install an LED strip but having everything integrated is probably pretty sweet.

Tepui, been fondling them locally at their show front. Good stuff. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

You get the annex with the summit series which is nice. Also someone mentioned the standard with any water on it/in the rain perfectly drips water down your back while on the ladder....big deal? No....Annoying? Absolutely.

    Basic overland stuff...
I've owned the three major suppliers (ARB, CVT, and Tepui). I'm currently running a Tepui Ruggedized Kukenam Sky.

#1 question: do you want the "summit" / "Ruggedized" version?

If so I'd go Tepui again no questions asked in the smaller versions. The CVT fabric was just too thick. It didn't breathe as well as I liked. The CVT does have a full diamond plate floor while the Tepui uses a diamond plate outer floor and composite inner floor. The Tepui's anti condensation mat is of greater quality. The sky feature is sweet. The larger CVT has a nice pole design over the annex that minimizes water ponding. Tepui's stitching was a little higher quality but it's hard to blame CVT for that.

#2 question what size tent do you want?

Another piece of info. The ARB tent has an excellent design the way their vestibule opens up

All make excellent tents with some differing features. Tepui just fit the bill better for me in my current setup.

The reviews from REI say that it leaks like a sieve.

...Aw, Crap!....Sorry, Guys!...didn't see those reviews before..or I would NOT have posted at all.....my Bad!...

...That's truly disappointing....I expected better quality from Yakima, especially as it looks like they have the best security-locking mounts for any rails!....I am bummed!...:annoyed:...

@WaldoJPL I am bummed too! 20% discount and a fat REI dividend would have made it a great deal.

I have always wanted a CVT but leaning towards the Tepui from REI they have the 20% off and the dividend benefits.

    Lots of sail boat fuel
%20 off tepui at REI? Is there a coupon or a code?

So far it seems like the sky model holds up to rain pretty well be people's account? Is that the general consensus ? We are about to buy one this season. We'll make sure to review whatever we get at the end of the year.

Love my tepui, though if I bought again, I'd probably not get the ruggedized, as it is very much heavier than the non-ruggedized. I do appreciate the moisture mat on the bottom, but could do without the heavier duty fabric and aluminum flooring for some weight saving, given how high it sits in the truck.

Yeah, I'm torn between the two. I think the rughedized XL is like 50lbs more. There show room is minutes from me, so it's nice to check out and compare the different models.

You can get he moisture mat separate for not too much more.

Yeah I realized that about the moisture mat after. Make sure to really get a feel for the fabric. The ruggedized is much heavier than your typical "tent" fabric, which has its plusses and minuses.

The ruggedized is definitely rugged, but their non-ruggedized still feels pretty damn solid.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
I like my CVT. Honestly I think they are mostly the same. I don't know that any are much better build quality than the others.
