What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this post but since there are a lot of experienced knowledgeable owners on here i thought id give it a go. I have a 2012 Access Cab V6. Two broken leafs on the drivers side. I don't really want to put in a lift but so far the only stock height springs i can seem to find on a conservative budget are the Dorman leafs. These appear to be modeled after the '05-'11 leafs (3 leaf pack) that failed. I have not been able to pin down an exact reason for the failure other than stress and corrosion. I'm afraid that if it was a design error, even though these are not Toyota parts, they may find the same fate. Here's the kicker, my inspections is up at the end of the month so i don't have a lot of time to figure this one out.

 

OEM Leafs?

 

Are 2012's part of the leaf spring recall? That would take care of the problem and not cost you a thing.

 

Dealer wants an both arms a leg for those. ive tried to hook up with members doing an upgrade but havent been successful salvaging the parts do to have to cut them off

Yeah thats where I was going with it...didn't know if yours were a part of the recall.

 

Hmmm.... That's interesting. I had my original springs replaced under the TSB, and then they replaced the 4 leaf TSB springs under the recall.

Ok I'm an idiot but for a split second I was thinking the bucket was holding that up, not seeing the jack at first.

 

Knew those kitty litter containers would come in handy- they holding up the calipers

 

Washed and waxed the truck today. I love how I can beat the piss outta my truck in the woods all weekend, then give it a quick wash and wax and it looks brand new.

Switched out the rear auxiliary back up lights for new brighter ones.

6 of these spaced out to match the grommets in the tarp. I need to revise the set up a little bit. I need to add a spacer between the spring nut and the fender washer to keep it from bowing as seen in the picture
