So I am about to start working on how to wire this so that I can turn the bed lights on from inside the cab with my own switch but also be able to use the switch that came with the bed lights to turn the lights on via the bed.

How do I go about wiring an in cab switch as well as a tailgate switch so I can turn them off and on from either location.

I'm bored at work, so I'll draw up a quick diagram on paint. Are you trying to have a pin switch that turns on the bed lights when you open your tailgate, or a rocker switch in the bed?

Just a rocker type switch, well mainly just a push button on/off

If you don't have an auxillary fuse box, just run an in line fuse in place of the fuse box and ground pin 85 of the relay to the chassis.
The "factory switch" has four wires and gives a cleaner look in the cab. you can get any design you want on the switch face from companies like CH4X4
