    Feeling nervous about local shop fixing my diff.... just learned yesterday that another local off-road club member had the same shop do a diff rebuild for him and he's having a "nightmare" with the diff.

    Decided to drop off my truck early this morning to the local shop doing repairs in hopes I can prevent further damage or catastrophe.

    Dropped by the shop on my way home to get something from my truck. Even though parts won't be here until later Wednesday afternoon they went ahead and took advantage of my dropping off the truck two days early.

    Third member, driveshaft, and rear axle removed and waiting for parts. If parts show up early enough on Wednesday they will get to work right away.

    So I might possibly get the truck back Thursday. That would be awesome as it would allow Weesa and I to go camping this weekend as planned.

    Truck update:

    Finally got the truck back tonight.


    Uggh.


    So, they had to overnight a solid pinion shim from Nitro Gear tp replace the old crush shim. That delayed things.


    Then a copper air line in the ARB locker broke. Thankfully they keep ARB locker repair kits on hand... said this is a common issue.



    They did refund me my inspection/diagnostic charge of $361 from last week though.


    Drive off and immediately.... hear the same noise I've always had.

    Drive back. Take two guys for a test drive. They are dumb founded. Mechanic who built my diff is very confident the diff is solid. So what's making the noise?


    So next Thursday we will put the truck on a dyno so they can put the drivetrain under a light load, crawl under it, and get the stethoscope out.

    In good news....

    Weesa gifted me a sent of @Bentrodder bed brackets for my birthday! Apparently she knew I wanted them, before I told her some how, and had them ordered a ways in advance!

    I got too rough with the top 10mm bolt though and broke the head off. Thankfully one of the taillight bolts is identical so I used that. That tail light didn't need all three anyhow right??
