So my friend and I were checking out a buddy's 3.4 4 runner and noticed that it has a tradition e-break handle instead of the pull out style in the Tacoma. Being a teenager and pulling e break turns so I was wondering if anyone has swapped the handbreak from a 4 runner into their Tacoma?

I really don't see the problem, or why you feel you need something else, its one of the best and easiest to use pull style of e-brakes

its just a hinged lever pulling on a cable, doesn't seem all that hard to do, might not be the prettiest looking, but if its what you want, go for it.

just be aware you are working on the brakes so its a safety feature that shouldn't be taken lightly. you need to be absolutely certain it will look and function good and it has to be rock solid and work safely or don't even try it

    None so far.
It's all fun and games until you roll over and slam into a parked car. Been there done that. learned the hard way, E-brake is for parking.

I certainly will, I was thinking about just buying the center consol out of a wrecked 4 runner

Back when I had a 3rd Gen 4Runner I had the thought of swapping the opposite way-- putting the Tacoma pull-style into the 4Runner (so I could put in the 60/40 seats and have a 6-seater). I never got around to it, but here's my thoughts on it.... the main problem you're going to have is the cable lengths... if you're Tacoma is anything other than a regular cab, the 4runner cable is going to be too short (your sig says you have an ext-cab...) and your original cable is going to be quite a bit too long... but you could maybe use one from another Toyota of similar length/wheelbase as the ext-cab that also has that same style brake lever as the 4runner (maybe an FJ60 or FJ80....?) A cable that is slightly longer is a bit easier to deal with as you can kinda "snake" the cable around a bit under there (I once put an FJ80 axle and e-brake setup under an FJ60 and the FJ80 one was a good 8-12" or so longer than the FJ60 one) Or you're going to need a custom cable...dunno what those cost, but I'm sure its a lot more than a stock cable from a wrecked vehicle.... And then, if you did find one that'd work, you'll most likely also have to cut some holes through the bottom of the cab as well for cable pass-through and mounting...but I'd bet the 4runner console and brake stuff is going to fit in there totally fine.

Anyway, would be a good bit of work just to do e-brake turns in a lifted vehicle thats not so suited to be doing such maneuvers to begin with....but hey, its your truck, do what you want. I love to think outside the box on things I want to do with my truck, so just from that perspective, I'd love to hear how it works out.
