I'm curious if you guys are having to special order these long beds on a double cab? None of the dealers around here seem to be stocking them.

 

I did. Put my request in with the Inventory Manager, waited 5 months for a build date.

 

You can't special order. Your dealer can request one, but Toyota only makes what Toyota wants to makes. Someone in the sales or fleet department can check DealerDaily to see all vehicles that are allocated within their region and beyond. There must be what you want somewhere. They can offer to trade it with the other dealership or if they are nice and don't want to trade, they will tell you which dealership is getting it. Just know that most salesmen only care about selling a vehicle TODAY. Most don't give a shit about future sales they can set up today. They want to sell you what they have on the lot, so they may be dicking you around with the information of allocation.

I searched for around 5 months and then found a truck the day it was allocated to a dealership 120 miles from me. Dropped 500 deposit then we waited over a month for build and delivery. Picked it up the day it came in.

just to confirm, are you sure the DCLB you want is made by Toyota? Not all models are made in DCLB

 

Technically you are right, but the dealership can order a truck in the exact configuration you want PROVIDED it is a configuration they already build. You can't get a DCLB Limited in the states (Canada only), and you can't get a DCLB manual at all.

The trick is finding a dealership willing to modify an allocation order just for you in the event that the configuration you want isn't headed to the port (if it hadn't already been sold).

 

I own a 16 DCLB OR with every single option available down to the first aid kit. I live in the midwest and this truck suddenly showed up on my local lot. It was a demo that was a dealer trade from a nearby major metropolitan. Sticker was 41.8k and I picked it up for 35.8k with 8k miles on the OD. Ive searched high and low for a DCLB OR with all the options and have yet to see another one. I think I own a unicorn.

Gas mileage took a good hit @ 13 to 15 mpg but I was on it pretty good (had to meet some friends) trying to make up time lost during packing due to an unexpected bee swarm between my garage and front door half way through loading up
